DRA/ reading levels

It’s that time of the year again…we will be DRA testing at the end of May for one final time. In the meantime, I keep track of student reading levels using running records and occasionally DRA progress monitoring. This week I am doing the DRA progress monitoring on each child. This is like a “pre test”, and gives me a good idea of their progress in relation to DRA.

Please note, oftentimes the books in your child’s book bag are often at their independent level and may be a level or two below their DRA level due to the type of book ( non-fiction or fiction, book difficulty, etc). Please just continue to read each night with your child, and if you have any questions about their progress just email me or stop by before or after school.

Remember, we want to be at least at a level 16. ?
