Sept. 30th, 2015

Today in class we went over the study guide answers for chapter 1.

CHAPTER 1 ASSESSMENT IS TOMORROW!

During the assessment tomorrow I will check the students bellwork and chapter 1 reading notes.  Any notes that a student didn’t complete, THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE for finishing them on their own.  Here are the reading notes for chapter 1 (they only need to show me sections 2-9)

Today we worked on an activity where students acted as “archaeologists” and uncovered different “artifacts” and would draw conclusions on what those artifacts meant.

For homework they will need to have read sections 4-9 and completed the corresponding reading notes to those sections.  Here are the reading notes:

Today we worked on sections 2-3 in chapter 1 and completed the reading notes for it.  Here are the reading notes for chapter 1:

chapter 1 reading notes

Students do not need to continue into section 4.

Also today, I introduced students into their bellwork assignment.  When they are chosen for a day, they will have to find a news article or something that happened that day in history.  They will then present this article to the class along with a topic question that students can write about.  This is a graded assignment as well, so they better come to class prepared!  Only 4 students per class have been chosen to go the week after break.  Here is more information about the assignment.

Another thing is I showed what dividers the students should have for the 3 ring binder.  Here are the different dividers for the binder:

Sept. 14th, 2015

Today in class students received their textbooks.  They will keep these books for the whole year.  Most are fairly new, with only one previous owner, so they really need to take good care of them.

When they got their books today, they worked on a “scavenger hunt” to become more familiar with the book.  This will be due tomorrow if they didn’t finish.  Here is the scavenger hunt:

History Alive Scavenger Hunt

Also, signed syllabus were due today.  If they are late, they may turn them in tomorrow or the next day, but with loss of points.  3rd day is a 0

HOMEWORK:
1.)  Complete scavenger hunt, due tomorrow
2.)  Book covers needed by end of week!
