Today in class students finished up their posters on the Persian Wars. This will be a summative grade for chapter 28.
We also went over a power point today in class that talked about the Golden Age of Athens and Alexander the Great. This was just a quick summary of chapters 29 and 30 (that we are skipping). Here is the power point:

Today we worked on posters that summarize the 4 major battles of the Persian Wars. This is their summative grade for the chapter. We will finish the posters tomorrow.
I also checked chapter 28 reading notes today, students need to have those completed.
Our next chapter is 31: The Legacy of Ancient Greece. Students need to work on the illustrated dictionary for this chapter that is due Thursday. Here is the template for the homework:
EXTRA CREDIT OPTION
Students will have an extra credit option. They can read and complete the notes for chapter 29: The Golden Age of Athens. This needs to be complete by Monday.

The last couple days we continued with chapter 28: Fighting the Persian Wars. We talked about the battles of Marathon and Thermopylae. Today students read and did notes on sections 5 and 6, battles of Salamis and Plataea.
Students need to have their reading notes completed (sections 2-6) by Tuesday.
Monday we will be watching a video on the Battle of Thermopylae.

Today in class we worked on the processing in the notes. Students weren’t given a copy, but had to copy it from the board. Any absent students can just print it off online and fill out the processing. It is part of their reading notes

The last couple days in class we have been working on chapter 26: The Rise of Democracy. We have discussed and simulated decision making in class the following forms of government: monarchy, oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy.
Students need to have their reading notes completed sections 2-5. I only gave them copies of those sections. Any absent students need to get these notes completed:
MONDAY IS THE CHAPTER 26 ASSESSMENT
We will not have a multiple choice section on this test. There will be the vocabulary, map of Greece, and a writing assignment.
Tomorrow we will finish up chapter 26 and Friday we will review for the test.
