Then I gave students their Chapter 3 Summative Assessment.  They have 2 options:  1) They can do a 3 paragraph writing assignment or 2) a comic book story page.
The topic for both is how did life change for humans from the Paleolithic to Neolithic Ages (the Agricultural Revolution).  Instructions and rubric are on the sheet I passed out.  This will be due on Tuesday, October 25th.  Anything late will have points deducted.

Today students turned in their comic book cover project.  Students can still turn it in late for the next couple days.  Here is the rubric for it:

hominid-comic-book-poster-project

We also finished up chapter 2 on early hominids.  I showed a video that shows the time of the earth in perspective.  If students missed it today they can watch it here:

Then today we also discussed what is BCE – CE and BC – AD.  We talked about what they meant and how to calculate the range between 2 years.  In the future we will be talking a lot about these dates, so students need to become familiar with it.  Here is another short video I showed that briefly (even though it’s a little boring) explains the meaning behind them.

The chapter 3 illustrated dictionary is due Thursday!
