Greek God Project extended

Hello, the Greek God/Goddess project has been extended from noon today, until 11pm tonight. So please make sure all students finish this.

Either today or tomorrow we will begin chapter 31 on the Legacy of ancient Greece and learn the impact the ancient Greeks have had on modern society.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and great Mothers Day! It’s definitely not the same when you can’t be with your loved ones.

Quiz extended

The chapter 26 quiz will be extended until Tuesday 5/5 at 11pm. I have noticed many kids haven’t finished it yet, so they will get another chance.

For those who finished it,take this opportunity to finish any missing assignments that you haven’t turned in yet. I will keep taking late work until the end of the year.

For those who are caught up with everything…congrats! You get a couple of days off. Focus on your other class work, but you don’t have anything to do for SS until Wednesday.

Wednesday I will assign a Greek God project.

No virtual meetings again this week.

Thank you

Ch 26 Quiz

Students will take a quiz on chapter 26. This is an open book quiz and will be due Friday at 11pm. It will be done on iLearn.

Please check google classroom for directions. In classroom, you will see a document with directions explaining what to do and also will provide a link to the quiz with the password.

There is some vocabulary (see the readings provided) and a map (also provided). It is 14 points total.

Please make sure students are checking their emails daily. Mr. Renko sent out a course selection sheet for 8th grade electives. They need to get this done ASAP.

April 23

This is just a friendly reminder that there is another assignment due tomorrow, Friday, at 3pm. We have started our new unit on ancient Greece and the map was due yesterday, and now we started chapter 26 on The Rise of Democracy. This chapter will explain how the ancient Greek city-states went from a monarchy to a democracy where people rule. So tomorrow sections 1-3 questions will be due.

As always if you have any questions, please feel free to email me. picher@dearbornschools.org

Thank you

Map of Greece assignment

Just a reminder that there is an assignment that is due tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3pm. We are starting a new unit on ancient Greece so the assignment is a map and some questions. Please check classroom and complete it by tomorrow at 3.

Also, I will be sending out an email later for my 4th, 5th, and 6th hours about our google hangout sessions tomorrow. See previous blog post for times. My 2nd and 3rd hours went well yesterday. I do ask that all students attend these sessions, they are only about 15 -20 minutes long. Trying to keep it simple.

Take care

March 31st, 2020

There have been 2 assignments posted so far this week. Monday, I posted a short 5 minute video on the Silk Road and students are to create 5 questions from the video and answer them. This was due today at 3pm.

The next assignment is a bigger one that will be due Friday. This will be the last assignment for the week. They are to make a google slide presentation on the Silk Road. They will NOT PRESENT these slides though, but they are making it as if they would present.

I have attached on google classroom the readings, some websites for further research, and the rubric with the assignment. I also attached an outline of their slides they will use as well. They should be creative with the slides, but keep it neat and organized too. Please read the directions and the rubric first before you ask me any questions.

Thank you

March 26th, 2020

The first assignment for chapter 24 on the Silk Road was due yesterday. Students may still finish this and turn it in late, I will only take off 1 point for being late.

PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND PASTE YOUR ANSWERS.

The 2nd assignment for chapter 24 was posted yesterday. It will be due tomorrow, Friday, at 3pm.

I will also probably post some videos for kids to watch on the Silk Road with some questions as well later.

Hope everyone is well. Any questions please email at picher@dearbornschools.org

DON’T FORGET!! Card-marking 3 ends tomorrow. Any work you see in the student connect (mistart) gradebook that is missing, I WILL STILL ACCEPT THOSE. Please, let me know what I can do to help and we can fill in any empty grades, but it has to be done by tomorrow.

Thank you

March 23rd, 2020

We are starting a new chapter called The Silk Road. This was an ancient trade route that spanned over 4,000 miles connecting China, Central Asia, India, Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. Goods and ideas were traded among this route for over a thousand years, and completely changed the world. It’s a very fascinating topic.

Their assignment on google classroom will be to read sections 1-3 in chapter 24 (The Silk Road) and then answer questions from the reading. There are 12 questions in total, but they are very easy questions. In total, it should take kids less than 1 hour to complete, and it is due by Wednesday at noon.

This is our last week in card-marking 3. So any work that needs to be done from what we did before school got out (religion essays, notes, IDs, etc) can still be turned in. But they must get it to me before Friday. What many kids have done is just take pictures of their work for credit, I will accept that.

Any questions please email me at picher@dearbornschools.org

I hope all is well with everyone and their families. We are doing good in our home. The biggest challenge is keeping my 2 year old occupied without giving her too much TV!
Sometimes I feel I’d rather face 140 7th graders daily than one 2 year old!

Take care
