QUIZZES
Students need to finish ALL 5 QUIZZES on my iLearn for all 5 religions.  These are open note and open book, formative grade, and they can take these AS MANY TIMES AS THEY WANT!  These questions are basically the questions that will be found on the test on Thursday.

WORLD RELIGIONS TEST ON THURSDAY
Students will take a summative, closed note and closed book test on Thursday on all 5 major world religions.

I will also be checking their notes and bellwork that day.  The notes are on all the religions, here is the sheet for that:

EXTRA CREDIT

Christianity was due today.

Islam extra credit is due on Friday.  They have to read from the text (attached) and complete the reading notes for it.  They only do pgs. 5-9 (NOT THE GEOGRAPHY CHALLENGE!!).  Here is the text and reading notes:

Feb 10th, 2017

Today we finished up the religion of Christianity.  Students need to have their notes on Christianity completed as well as the map colored.  Students who were absent should also read chapter 36 in the textbook.  Here is the information for Christianity:

Feb. 8th, 2017

Today we finished up the religion of Buddhism.  Students that were absent today need to complete their notes on Buddhism on the table provided at the beginning of the unit.

Feb. 7th, 2017

Today we continued to discuss Buddhism and the origins and teachings.  We discussed the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path as well.

Quizzes

If any of you were absent on Friday, you MUST take the Hinduism Quiz and Judaism Quiz that can be found in iLearn.  There’s no password for each and it’s open note and open book, but you only get to take it once.

These are formative grades and only 8 questions each.  These questions will be found on the unit test later on after we finish world religions.

Extra Credit

See previous posts on extra credit for Hinduism and Judaism.  Hinduism was due today but they can still turn it in tomorrow (not for full credit).

Judaism extra credit will be due on Wednesday.

Feb. 1st, 2017

Yesterday and today we started on our world religions unit with Hinduism.  We learned the basic beliefs of Hindus such as Dharma, Karma, Samsara, and reincarnation.  Yesterday we read through the text and did some posters in groups.  Today we went over the notes on a power point.  If any students were absent today they need to get the notes from the sheet I passed out today (see below).

Chinese New Year is this Saturday, the 28th (will be the year of the rooster).  So today we did a lesson on the history and culture of Chinese New Year.

World Religions

Yesterday, the 25th, we started our unit on world religions.  We will be discussing over the next few weeks the 5 major world religions:  Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam.  We went over a power point and students took notes.  Here is the power point:
