Today in class we continued our “journey” along the Silk Road.

We were in the city of Dunhuang and students needed to have completed Document B questions from yesterday.  Today they wrote out their journal entry about what they have learned in Dunhuang and what they will expect in the future.

We also analyzed document C about the Taklimakan Desert.  Students need to have document C answers completed too.

Here is the packet and the documents we have been working on:

March 23rd, 2017

The last few days in class students have been learning about the Silk Road, a vast network of trade routes that spanned from the Roman empire in Europe to the Han Empire in China.

We have been doing something a little different, which we haven’t done before.  We haven’t been using the textbook so much the last few days because we are doing something called a DBQ (document based questions).  Here is their packet (which each have been given) for the dbq:

The Silk Road packet DBQ

Students were to create a profile of someone who would be traveling over a year on the silk road.  They chose a name, age, job, etc.  As we go through our journey we will analyze documents and record thoughts into a journal.  The journals must be written on a loose leaf sheet of paper (5 journal entries total).

Here are the documents we will analyze (we have only done documents A and B so far):

documents a-e silk road

Here are some examples of a profile and journal entries for the DBQ:

examples-profile and journals

SO FAR, students need to have done their profile, background essay questions answered, documents A-B answered, and journal entry #1 written.

Any question please feel free to email me.

Thank you
