Last day of the semester!  Hard to believe that school is already half-way done!

Last few days we have been working on chapter 9:  Daily Life in Ancient Egypt.  Students will be working on role plays for this chapter where they will take on the ‘role’ of an ancient Egyptian social class (government officials, priests, scribes, artisans, peasants).  Their role play will be their summative grade for this chapter.

Yesterday in class we did an article on https://newsela.com/ that was about Ancient Egyptian Social Structure.  If they didn’t finish the article yesterday, they need to complete it at home.  They need to do the writing and the quiz form the article.  The second article on the Egyptian Pyramids is extra credit if they want to do it.
Both articles are due by Thursday.

Today in class we started chapter 9:  Daily Life in Ancient Egypt.  Students read sections 1 and 2 and started the notes on it.

The chapter 9 illustrated dictionary is due at the end of the chapter.

4 WEEKS LEAVE

I am not sure if some of you parents are aware, but I will be taking 4 week off after the Thanksgiving break to watch my daughter when my wife goes back to work.  There will be a long term sub in the classroom, Ms. Zreik, who will be in charge while I am away.  Please know, she is the teacher.  Students should not see her as a “sub” in the class.  She will give assignments, grade them, give detentions if need be.

She may be using this blog, or will be using her own blog to post assignments.  So please just be flexible with whatever she decides to do.

So have a great Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and any other holiday I may have missed!

Take care everyone, and I will see everyone after the holiday break in January!
