Today, we continued on with chapter 31: The Legacy of Ancient Greece.  In this chapter, we are discussing what contributions did the ancient Greeks give the modern world.

The last few days we have been working on Chapter 26:  The Rise of Democracy.  We have been learning about how the ancient Greeks developed the idea of Democracy and learning about other forms of government as well.

Yesterday students took the Silk Road quiz.  They also turned in their journal entries and chapter 24 illustrated dictionary.  I also checked their reading notes and bellwork.

The processing assignment for the silk road is due on Monday.  Students are to make a billboard advertisement that might have been seen on the Silk Road (if they had billboards).  Here is the information on it:

Today we started our next unit: Ancient Greece.  We worked on the map of Greece today.  Any students who didn’t finish the map will need to be done for homework.  Here is the map and questions (map is on pg. 268)

For an activity to simulate how different forms of government work, I need students to send me a youtube link of your favorite video (school appropriate please).  One minute is the maximum amount of time I will show the video in class.  So if their video is over 1 minute, please give me the time of when to watch it (for example:  1:25-2:25).  If I choose your video, it will be anonymous so the class won’t know who sent it.

This is not a required assignment, but if students are to do this, they need to send it to me by Monday.

The last few days in class we finished up chapter 22 on the first emperor of China, took the test (on Tuesday, and I checked their reading notes), and completed the processing assignment which was the wanted poster or commemorative plaque.

The poster/plaque was due yesterday, and it was for 10 summative points.  Here is the directions for it (I am sorry this is so late)

Yesterday we started on the Silk Road.  In this unit we will be taking a “journey” through the Silk Road as a fictional character and students will write journal entries along the way.  Today they created a profile of their character that will take on the 4,000 mile long journey of the Silk Road.  Here are the documents they received today (you must log-in to iLearn to get this):
