Great Minds Scores

I found out how to help you see your child’s math scores on Schoology!

Go into Schoology, then my course!

Click on the Math Topic Quiz, it will say no assignments!

On the left there should be an icon that says reports.

If you click on that you will be able to see your child’s Module 1 Test Score, and their Topic Quiz A/B.

If this does not work for some reason, please let me know!

Thank you!

Homework and Weekly Lesson Plan

Homework can be found on the Weekly Lesson Plan that is provided weekly in Schoology.   You can find the Weekly Lesson Plan in my Course in the Weekly Lesson Plan folder. Students will have math daily. The math homework always correlates with the lesson on the plan.  So for example, if I teach Module 2 Lesson 5 on Monday the homework for Monday is Module 2 Lesson 5 in their succeed book (the book with the bed on the cover).  I also go over math homework with students daily. They write the date on the page and go over what problems to do. If your child circles problems those are the “Must Do” problems. That means they must do those problems and “Can Do” the problems that are not circled. If no problems are circled (like today) then they are expected to complete the whole page.

During Learning Labs (while testing is happening at school) students are also completing social studies. The video and lesson/activity are in Schoology in the social studies folder. You can find the assignment for your child by name or date. These assignments are to be completed during Learning Lab time while testing is occurring.  The social studies work is also posted on the Weekly Lesson Plan during Learning Labs time and reviewed with your child before they leave for Labs. Currently there is also a social studies project that was given to your child to do. They can also do this during this time too! (The note for the project is in the blue folder your child received yesterday. And will be posted in Schoology in the social studies folder too.

Second graders are also asked to read four to five days a week for 20 minutes. We currently do not have a reading log, but the expectation is there. Reading logs will come into place at a later date.

You can find a copy of the Weekly Lesson Plan in Schoology in my courses.  The folder is labeled Weekly Lesson Plans.  It is printable too!

I hope that you find this information helpful in regards to homework. Thanks so much!

Homework for 9-21-20

Tonight’s homework was to review the corrections that we made on Math Module 1 Review page one. Students were asked to take what they learned from correcting page one and to apply it to page two. For example, show their work, show a strategy to solve the problems such as number bonds and decomposing, make a picture with quick tens and ones, etc… We will be checking over page two tomorrow. Friendly reminder… this review was due today. This is a homework grade. If you have not turned in the assignment in Schoology please do so. Directions on how to do this were sent to your email. I will need a picture of both pages please. I also need your help with checking the picture. If you can read the work on the picture great, if not, I am asking you to retake the picture (before you turn it in) so that it is readable. This helps me to evaluate your child’s work. All of your help is more than appreciated! Thanks so much!

For social studies, students were asked to complete page two of their “Why Do People Live in Communities” book. Completion of this page was to be done during Learning Labs. If your child did not complete this assignment you can find the directions for this assignment in Schoology in the Social Studies folder. We will continue to work on this book throughout the week. The completed booklet will be due on this Thursday.

Students are also asked to read for 20 minutes at least 4 to 5 days a week. Independent reading is always encouraged.

Thanks and have a great night! See you tomorrow.

Friendly Reminder

Math Module 1 Review is today’s homework. Please follow the directions emailed to you on how to find the assignment in Schoology, and how to take a picture to send in completed assignment/work into Schoology. We will be checking these over on Monday as review for Wednesday’s test. This assignment is due on Monday. It needs to be turned in and completed before we check it over. Thanks so much!

Accessing Math Review Assignment on Schoology for 9-18-20

Parent(s), please read the following letter to access your child’s Math Review for tomorrow. Thanks so much! (This was also sent in a mass email).

Dear parents,

Students can now access their math assignments such as Module Reviews in Schoology. This excludes daily work done in the 3 math workbooks (Learn, Practice, and Succeed) already provided.  We have completed Math Module 1.  So tomorrow students will be asked to work on their Module 1 Review.  Please either download the Module 1 Review document provided or have your child complete their work on a separate sheet of paper.  If your child is writing their work on a separate sheet of paper please have them number each problem, write down the problem, and use the strategies taught to complete each problem.

I will also be asking students to turn in their work when they are done.  I will be sending a separate email on how to download the Schoology App on your phone so that you can easily take a picture of your child’s assignments and turn it in.  Your child will need assistance when doing so.  I thank you for your help with this in advance.

As of now, parents will not be able to login in to Schoology as a parent until further notice.  So you can continue to access the Schoology site under your student/child still.  Just like they do to go to their Zoom Link every morning. Again, they can get to their Schoology account on the Dearborn Public Schools Website.

Here are the steps to get to your child’s account to complete or download the math review for tomorrow…

1.     They can do this by first logging into their computer with their student ID@dearbornschools.org, and their password (birthdate for example: 06232020)

4.    Once they are there look for the heading Schoology (on left side) and then click on the S or the word Schoology

5.    Once in Schoology Click on the word COURSES (on the green strip)

6.    Next, click the first box in the upper left corner called 2nd Grade (PerAM_PM-YB-Sec210). 7.    Please contact me if you have any difficulties.  We’re in this together.  Thanks and take care.

NWEA and DRA Testing-Lindbergh School Post

Parents I am sharing a post that was posted on the Lindbergh Site just in case you didn’t have the opportunity to see it. 2nd grade will be contacting 2nd grade parents about sign up for this today. Please check your email. Thanks so much!

POST:

Dear Families,

This week we will begin to ask parents to bring in their children for one-one or small group testing (3 or less) on NWEA and DRA. This testing is required by the state and included in our district’s learning plan. Teachers will be reaching out to you and setting up appointments. Most students will require two testing appointments. The timeframe of the appointments  for students will vary depending on the grade and may require another visit to the school to complete. To the greatest extent possible, testing appointments will not interfere with students’ instructional time. As a result this assessment process may take several weeks to complete. We appreciate your understanding and support. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

For the health and safety of our students, staff and parents, we require any person that is entering the school building to be screened. All staff are required to wear a mask at all times and follow safety protocols. Students will have designated waiting areas outside that are six feet apart from each other. Once screened, students wearing a mask will enter the building, sanitize their hands and be escorted to a classroom. The classroom will have no more than three students. In addition, we will have no new students enter that classroom until the entire group has left the classroom and it has been disinfected.  WE are asking that parents do not enter the school building. There will be staff available to help students transition from outside to inside and back again. There are disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer all over the building and in classrooms. Please know our top priority is the safety of our students, staff and families.

Have a wonderful day!
