STEM Apps –
This week, we’ll be working on our Future City unit, where students will be challenged to address global issues and come up with feasible solutions as they work in teams to design and create a city 100+ years ahead of our time. This week, we’ll be researching power grid systems to investigate how a city’s infrastructure could be affected by a natural disaster.
Homework –
10/17 – Study for the power grid quiz on Thursday
10/18 – Complete IXL 7-C.3 – Use Data from Tests to Compare EDP (95% minimum). If this is an IXL you completed last year, please re-do it – this is a great way to refresh and review skills.

Students should also spend some time reviewing their science glossary (vocab) terms and reviewing their notes to prep for our next quiz on Monday, Oct 15th.

10/10 – Complete your C-E-R worksheet (Thermal Energy Transfer) & study your science glossary terms (vocab), class notes, and homework to prep for the quiz on Monday, Oct 15th. Please take a moment to complete the U of M survey linked in our Google Classroom as well!

As we continue our research of natural disasters, we’ll be working on a 2-paragraph essay to detail our findings. Each paragraph will need to be 4-6 sentences long. The edited, typed, and printed final draft of this essay will be due on Monday, Oct 15th.
Homework –
10/10 – Finish your Future City two-paragraph essay rough draft. We’ll be using this draft for a writer’s workshop/peer editing session on Thursday.
10/11 – Work on the final draft of your Future City mini essay. The final draft needs to be edited, typed, and in a final draft format (including two 4-6 sentence paragraphs, 3 sources, 1 quote, and source citations at the bottom of the page). The final draft is due in class on Monday, Oct 15th.

STEMbots Meeting – Wed, October 10th – 2:30-4pm

STEMbots Robotics Team Applications

Calling all student makers, engineers, programmers, and robotics fans!

We’re looking for 6-8th grade candidates for our STEMbots competitive robotics team! Applications are currently posted outside of Miss Roberts’ classroom (187B) and in Google Classroom.
