6th Grade Science –
This week, we’ll be studying, analyzing, and investigating various ecosystems, to learn about food webs and food chains, how different species rely on one another for survival, and how environmental changes can affect an ecosystem. 

HOMEWORK
1 – IXL Science 6.V.1 – Describe Populations, Communities, and Ecosystems (Work on this anytime Monday-Thursday: DUE ON THURSDAY!) – Complete IXL Science 6.V.1 – you will need to earn at least a 95% to receive credit for this assignment. Since you’ll complete this work directly in the IXL website, you do not need to turn this into Google Classroom, however, YOU MUST LOG INTO IXL in order for your score to be recorded. 2 – MiSTAR Unit 6.6 – Rainforest Ecosystem Virtual Field Trip & Rainforest Reflection Worksheet (Work on this anytime – Monday-Thursday: DUE ON Thursday) – First, you will need to check out the Rainforest Ecosystem Virtual Field Trip PowerPoint presentation. Be sure to watch the embedded video, answer the questions, and click on the Learn More links at the end of the presentation. Then, complete the Rainforest Reflection Worksheet. Upload and turn in your assignment in Google Classroom by the end of the school day on THURSDAY (2:15pm)!

3 – Do Nows – Semester 4 (Work on this anytime Monday-Thursday: DUE ON THURSDAY) 
– Read over the following Do Now prompts and write your Do Now answers in your Semester 4 Google Doc (just update your Do Now Google Doc as you have been doing all semester in class). Make sure to include the date, prompt number, and your answer.

Do Now 2 – What are some of the plant and animal species found in a rainforest, like the Amazon rainforest in northern Brazil?

Do Now 3 – What are some factors that are threatening the health of the rainforest and the safety of the plant and animal species that live there?

7th Grade ELA –
This week, we’ll be discussing, practicing, and applying our text dependent analysis (TDA) strategies to a novel: S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be reading The Outsiders and considering plot elements, character dynamics, themes, examples of figurative language, and how the story ties into real historical events. In addition, we’ll be reviewing literary devices and techniques to keep our skills sharp.

HOMEWORK
1 – S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders – Reading – Chapters 7-9 (Work on this anytime Monday-Thursday: DUE ON THURSDAY) –
 For this assignment, you will need to read Chapters 7-9 of The Outsiders. PDF files of the chapters will be uploaded directly to Google Classroom, so there is no need to buy or borrow your own copy of the text. Feel free to listen along with the audio book while you read, a link to the audio book will be provided in Google Classroom as well. Complete this reading assignment before the end of the school day on THURSDAY (2:15pm).

2 – The Outsiders – Chapter 7, 8, & 9 Chapter Response Worksheets (Work on this anytime Monday-Thursday: DUE ON THURSDAY) – After reading Chapters 7-9 of The Outsiders, you will need to complete the Chapter Response Worksheets for each chapter (there are three in total – one for Chapter 7, one for Chapter 8, and one for Chapter 9). Open the Chapter Response Worksheets in a new Google Doc, type your answers into the worksheet documents, and then upload and turn in your worksheets in Google Classroom before the end of the school day on THURSDAY (2:15pm).

8th Grade STEM Apps –
This week, we’ll be studying, analyzing, and investigating methods of space travel, we’ll explore International Space Station technology, and we’ll learn about how  microgravity can impact the human body during space flight. In addition, we’ll be taking a virtual field trip to learn about how NASA astronauts collect field research and data while orbiting the Earth in the ISS. 

HOMEWORK
1 – IXL Science 8.GG.1 – Analyze Models of the Earth-Sun-Moon System (Work on this anytime Monday-Thursday: DUE ON THURSDAY) – Complete IXL Science 8.GG.1 – you will need to earn at least a 95% to receive credit for this assignment.
