6th Grade Science –
This week, we’ll be studying, analyzing, and investigating the connections between unicellular and multicellular organisms. We’ll be learning that cells are the building block of life and that all living things are comprised of one or more cells. Throughout this unit, we’ll also be examining the relationship between biotic and abiotic components and we’ll be learning about the difference between viruses, parasites, bacteria, and healthy cells. We’ll also be examining the parts of cells, functions of cells,the characteristics of living things, and we’ll be learning about the structure and function of body systems.
Homework –
1/29/20 – Continue working on the Cells & the Real World poster project – The final draft of the poster is due on Friday – presentations will take place during class on Friday!

7th Grade ELA –
This week, we’ll be working on a poetry & figurative language unit. During this unit, students will examine different types of poems, such as sonnets, haikus, acrostic poems, limericks, and free verse poems, to learn about concepts such as mood, tone, hyperbole, irony, metaphors, and allegory.
Homework –
1/29/20 – Type your spoken word poem & prep for a spoken word poetry workshop in class tomorrow! The final draft of your spoken word poem is due at the end of class tomorrow (Thursday)!
1/30/20 – Spoken word poems are due today at the end of class! Bring in a book of choice for in-class reading tomorrow!
1/31/20 – Begin working on Book Project 3 – Due Thursday, April 16th!
8th Grade STEM Apps –
This week, we’ll be exploring and examining how graphic designers use mathematics, graphic design skills, and computer-aided design techniques to create geometric designs, artistic patterns, and architectural structures. Students will be using their skills to convert 2-D and 3-D images to designs using web-based software programs.
Homework –
1/29/20 – Bring in household materials & art supplies for the Chinese lantern project.
1/30/20 – Complete your Chinese lantern project packet and finish constructing your paper lantern – these are both due at the end of class tomorrow!
