6th Grade Science –
This week, we’ll be focusing on our heat, temperature, and thermal energy unit. We’ll continue to explore the topic of thermal energy in discussions, activities, and experiments over the course of the week. On Wednesday during class, students will begin building model homes for our thermal energy home heating project. Our goal is to design and construct a model home that will conserve thermal energy; we’ll be testing out our models on Friday, November 9th, and we’ll be evaluating our models on Monday, November 12th.

This week, we’ll be kicking off our Modeling & Design unit, where students will be challenged to use drafting, architectural, and design skills to transform images from two-dimensional sketches to three-dimensional models. We’ll be creating thumbnail sketches, isometric drawings, and multi-view images to learn more about perspective and the world of engineering and drafting.
