The remainder of the period we continued discussing solving 2-step equations. Students also modeled real-life situations with equations and solved to find missing quantities.

Students took a quiz over solving 1-step equations.
After the quiz students worked on a skill that will be used later this year but if they are introduced to it now and practice it each week it will be easier to apply in later chapters.
We then discussed Sec 2-2 which is solving 2-step equations.
Hwk #8 is due on Monday (Sec 2-2).

The practice sheet from after Tuesday’s Ch 1 Test is due today.
The remainder of the period we finished discussing solving one-step equations and being able take a written description of a real-life situation, model it with an equation, and then solve to find the missing value. We also began looking forward to equations that take more than one step.

No bellwork today. Students took the test over Chapter 1 today.
After the test students were to take a sheet of One-Step equations to practice solving. There were three different sheets, A, B, or C. Each student was given one of them. This sheet is due on Thursday.

Bellwork reviewed for tomorrow’s Chapter 1 Test.
The remainder of the period students were shown how to check whether a given number is actually a solution to an equation by performing a Boolean Check using the Ti-84 graphing calculator. This skill will be used in Chapter 2. Students will be allowed to use one of these calculators during this chapter.
