Week of February 16, 2016

 

I hope you have enjoyed our long weekend and are back refreshed for more learning!

Language Arts: This week students will continue to focus on the mystery genre. They will be learning and defining the different elements of a mystery and reading various mystery stories. This week students will get a chance to write their own mystery stories!!! I am very excited to see their stories!! Students will continue reading various stories based on level and working on the various areas of comprehension, accuracy, fluency as well as various vocabulary words.

Spelling: This week our spelling list is following the Rule –ant to the suffix and 5 content words.

Week 22:

Math: This week we will review fractions.   Our test will be this Wednesday I have passed out a study guide for students!

Science: We just began our “Life Science” unit! We began learning about how traits of organisms help them survive in their environments.

Social Studies: We will begin exploring the causes of the American Revolution.  Looking at why colonists joined together to build an independent nation.

Please make sure your child is going on mobymax, or myon, and frontrow on a daily basis. These computer programs will help enhance your child’s reading and math development. Plus they are pretty fun! Thank you for your continued support!

Math: This week we will continue learning about fractions.  We are learning about fractions using fraction sticks so that students are able to see what a certain looks like, we are also learning about adding, subtracting fractions as well as comparing and ordering them. Our test will be this Friday! I will be sending home a study guide soon!
