Week 3 of Online Learning

Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying safe during this school closure. I want to remind everyone to continue to exercise and eat healthy as much as you can. Please remember to continue looking at the workouts that our department has created for you to do while you’re at home here. Remember, there is a worksheet which you can complete in order to receive extra credit when we get back to school. Please stay safe and healthy during this time. If you have any questions please email me and I will get back to you!

Online Learning Expectations

Hello Students,

I just wanted to update you on the fast-moving situation regarding our online classes. This afternoon, Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her “dismay” about the Michigan Department of Education’s statement, releasing her own statement assuring educators and parents that this time could possibly count. The MDE released its original statement because in order for our time to count, the Michigan legislature must change the law; the MDE has no power here. So what does that mean for us? *It is very possible—even likely—that our time online will count. So keep working.* Our state lawmakers do not want to anger parents and educators across the state. So let’s keep our momentum going.

Online Class

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this time. Since school has officially closed and online classes have begun, I want to remind everyone that health and fitness are one of the most important ways in staying healthy. Our PE department has created a website that provides fitness tasks to do while at home, track them, and earn extra credit all from the safety and comfort of your own home. Here is the link: https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/amrh/

Please remember to stay safe and stay healthy during this unknown time. If you have any questions or concerns please email me and I will get back to you. Please have a relaxing and safe few weeks off. I can’t wait to see you all again when the weather is nice and we can go back outside!

Spring!

Spring is finally here!  Now that the weather has finally warmed up a bit, we will be going outside during class.  I ask that students be prepared to go outside from now until the end of the year.  There may be days where the weather is still a bit cold or breezy, but we will still be going outside.   Please bring things like a light coat or sweater, hats, long pants, and tennis shoes that you can wear on grass that may be wet.  Wearing layers is the best way to prepare for our Spring weather.  We’re in the home stretch!

March Madness

For the next four weeks, we will be participating four different types of tournaments.  At the end of each week, the teams with the greatest amount of wins will earn the highest amount of extra credit. Every team will have the opportunity to earn a certain amount of extra credit, depending on where they stand in the brackets.  Every student will earn extra credit, as long as they participate cooperatively, and follow the rules during game play.  The first week will be Volleyball, then Soccer, followed by Badminton, and lastly Basketball.
