Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

Half Day Tomorrow and Spelling Test!

Half Day Tomorrow! School will be dismissed at 11:10.

I have reposted the spelling message I sent earlier this week.  Good luck tomorrow my Superstars!!

Spelling Words for test on Friday, November 4

Just a quick reminder that I will be changing the words. An example of this strategy is the Dolphins have the word lock. I might ask them to spell the word block, flock, sock, etc. I may also give them a nonsense word for the word lock. I might say if you can spell lock then you can spell the nonsense word (made up word to see if they know the spelling pattern) vock. Good luck my Superstars!

Spelling Pattern- Long O and Short O
CVC o-e and CVC o

Sharks-op family
bop, cop, hop, mop, pop, sop, top, stop

Dolphins
fox, lock, poke, pip, cone, hop, hope, joke, box, bone

Penguins
remote, awoke, drove, spoke, alone, wrote, whole,
expose, enclose, suppose

Halloween Parade!

We are having a Halloween Parade and you are welcome to join us!

When: Monday, October 31st at 2:00

Where: Track around the playground (Cafeteria in bad weather)

Students may bring costumes (no masks, weapons, or clown costumes). Students will change into their costumes after lunch, so please do not send them wearing it in the morning.

Also, on Halloween, students will be participating in some Halloween learning activities.  They will switch between the 3 second grade classrooms.  Your child does not need to bring a snack on that day because they will be making it and then eating it….yum, yum!  I know it will be a great day of learning and fun for everyone!

If anyone would like to volunteer to help me run stations in our classroom, please let me know.  I would need your help from 9:00-10:15 and from 1:15-2:00.  Then you can stay and enjoy the parade!
