And the Food Drive Winner Is….
our class!!!!! We collected a total of 156 items for families in Dearborn that are in need of some extra help during these months. I used this opportunity to connect this worthy cause into a teaching moment. How did I do it? I connected it to social studies (helping people in our community) and in math by graphing our items that were brought in and then analyzing our graphs! The students really enjoyed constructing the graph and then analyzing it!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the food drive! We will have a bagel or pizza party in the future. Congratulations and enjoy your time off with your wonderful child:)
Book Check-Out
Please bring your library books to school tomorrow (Thursday, December 17) because it is time to turn in the old ones and check out new ones. Please remember to bring them because I know you want to check out new books! I love getting new books to read. Don’t you?
Food Drive to Help Our Community
A great big thanks goes out to everyone who donated food to help the citizens of Dearborn who need a little extra help this year. The last day to bring food is tomorrow!
Congratulations to…..
Musleh! He has completed his “Addition Math in a Flash” timed tests and has now moved on to subtraction! Way to go, Musleh! I am wondering who will be the next student to enter “Subtraction World”. Will it be you?
Food Drive Will Benefit the Families in Dearborn!
McCollough-Unis is having a food drive to help families in the community that are in need of food. To connect this food drive to a math standard, we are creating a graph of the food we have donated and are answering questions about our graph. Also, in social studies, one of standards we have to teach is helping our community and this ties in nicely. If you are able to help out, please have your child bring in some food in cans, boxes, or bags! If you are unable to help out, I completely understand. By the way, the students are excited about this community project because the class that brought in the most food will win a pizza or bagel party.
