Welcome to Physics!

In this course, we will be studying everything from the motion of a football to the path of the moon, from the energy of rollercoasters to the optimal way to shoot a basketball, and so much more.  To succeed in this class, you will need to practice critical reasoning skills, as you evaluate what you see in front of you.  You must participate and ask questions daily if you hope to learn this semester.

Although this course is conceptual in nature, a basic application of mathematics will be necessary in order to analyze and predict behavior.  However, understand that a calculator is not a substitute for your brain.  In Physics, every number means something.  More important than calculating answers, ask yourself, “does this answer make sense with what I expect?” based on your own life experiences.

You have a lot to offer to the class; don’t sell yourself short.  Physics isn’t always about having the right answers but understanding why and learning from each other!
