Seesaw is an app that I will be using this year to share with you what your child is learning at school. There will be a note in your child’s folder, Monday, explaining Seesaw. We have just starting sharing items. You will be notified as more items are added. Please let me know what you think of Seesaw.
This week in our class:
Reading — The children will be reading Good-Fit books and working on their personal strategies. The children should be bringing home books to read every night.
2nd grade will be learning about Cinquains and 3rd grade will be learning about Myths.
Writing– Both grades are working on writing narrative stories.
Spelling– Words for both grade levels were listed in Friday’s blog post. They are also written in your child’s planner.
Math–Both grade levels are working on place value, writing numbers in expanded notation and rounding. There will be a quiz on Friday to check their understanding. Throughout the year, we will be focusing on Math Fluency. It is important that your child is fluent in their facts– addition, subtraction , multiplication, division. There are many ways to practice this, with MobyMax being one way.
Social Studies–2nd grade is comparing different communities (rural/urban) 3rd grade is learning about specialized maps( vegetation/highway).
Science– 2nd grade is learning about the scientific process. They are learning to conduct experiments, observe and collect data. 3rd grade is learning about forces and motion.
Also, I encourage you to use MobyMax with your children at home. This program provides instruction at the child’s level in all subject areas. Login information will be located in the front cover of your student’s planner, starting Monday.
