Our focus this week:
Reading — We are finishing up our unit on Literature. We will be looking at titles that are written as books as well as in a different media ( such as cartoons, movies, poems) to compare/contrast.
Writing– We are finishing up our unit on Narrative Writing. We continue improving on our leads, transition words and endings. We will also be focusing on our organization of our writing. Is the writing easy to follow and understand? Do we see paragraphs? Do our characters show dialogue? Is there a problem/solution?
Spelling– This week is Lesson 12. The children wrote their words in the planner Friday,as well as the words being posted on the blog. this is a review lesson, so the words may look familiar to you.
Math–We are working with solving addition/subtraction problems with metric units. Remember to look at the Parent Tip Sheets. They are on the blog under MATH. We will be having a multiplication fact test on our 8 facts Friday. Helping your child learn these facts will help them solve the multiplication problems we will soon be doing.
Science- We are finishing our experiment with making a electric circuit by making a flashlight.
Social Studies– We continue to learn about the early movement of people in the United States, such as the Underground Railroad, expansion of the United States and immigration.
