We will be using the RACE(S) strategy for text based writing (answering questions based on a reading). RACE(S)helps students organize text based writing, a key skill in ELA that they need for success in class as well as on state assessment. Here is what each letter of RACE stands for.

R- Resate the Question

A- Answer the Question

C- Cite Evidence

E- Explain and Extend

S- Summarize (this is an optional step)—We will not be focusing on this step.
