Camp News-We have 55 students attending!  Currently we have $965 in donations (Dr. Umlauf, Dr. Levy, Dr. Batra and Dr. Norwick-pls. say THANK YOU if your child sees one of them) and from the bake sale.  After the Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser (This Wednesday, take the flyer with you!)I will know what the total owed is for each child.  I will post on the blog as soon as I know!  We will have a final camp meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30 in room 202.  You will need to bring a copy of your insurance card and your checkbook or cash.  If you CAN’T attend, you will get the packing list the following day and will need to send in the rest of the payment owed by Thursday, October 6.  All money has to be sent to central office so the turn around time to get a check for payment to camp is SLOW, sorry for the quickness of it being due.  Any questions, email me please.

Camp

There will be a Camp Meeting for 4th and 5th grade parents in room 202 from
7-7:30 on the night of Open House.  Fourth grade parent should plan on attending so that you can ask any questions and understand the basic information about camp. If your child went to camp last year, you don’t HAVE to attend, it is information for newcomers and 4th grade parents.   We DO need a nonrefundable deposit of $100 (cash or check made out to DuVall School with your child’s name on the memo part)  by Thursday, September 22 if you plan on sending your child to camp.  We need at least 45 students to attend, the dates are October 17-19.  There will be a bake sale going on in the lobby to help raise money to offset the cost of the bus.  Please send items in for the sale if you are able 🙂

Welcome to 4th Grade!

Mrs. Pelaccio’s Classroom Rules and Behavior Plan

Classroom Rules:

  • Be Respectful: Don’t talk while the teacher/speaker is talking, don’t interrupt, Listen carefully, raise your hand, take care of your belongings and classroom
  • Treat others how you want to be treated: be polite, take turns, use manners
  • Keep your hands/feet to yourself, be aware of personal space
  • Be fair and include everyone

Behavior:

We will be using a clip/color system to monitor behavior in the classroom.  All students will begin the day on green: “Ready to Learn”.  They will get one warning to make better choices.  After a warning the student will be asked to clip down to yellow, “Think About it”.  If the student turns the behavior around he/she may have the opportunity to clip back up to green.  If the bad choices continue then the student will be asked to clip down to pink, “Teacher’s Choice” (consequence).  In the event that the behavior does not get better then the student will have to clip down to red, “Parent Contact”.

Due to the weather, we will delay our arrival time to Levagood Park. We have activities planned for the morning. The plan for this morning is to have the picnic in our classrooms at 11:00 AM.  We will tentatively leave for the park at 11:45 (again, depending on the weather).  Please stay tuned to our school news blog for further updates.  Thank you for your flexibility with changes due to the weather.

Picnic Update

We will be staying at school and having our picnic in the classroom at 11:00 because of the weather.  Please bring any food items that you signed up for and enjoy some pizza with us.  Hopefully it will clear up and we can head over to the pool/park afterward!

June 14, 2016

DuVall families,

I would like to thank all of the parents, guardians, and family members who are helping to chaperone the All School Picnic at Dunworth pool and Levagood Park. Students must report to DuVall at 8:35 so attendance can be taken. If a student goes directly to park, he or she will be marked absent. Chaperones must sign in the office and wait in the lobby until teachers call down to the office for them to come to class. We plan on leaving DuVall by 9:15 and will return to school by 3pm.

Please have your child bring a swimsuit and towel. Students may also bring a ball or Frisbee. The pool policy is no life jackets or water toys. Please make sure your child has sunscreen on before coming to school. Students will not be able to share sunscreen with other students. If you are not driving your child, please remember to send them with a booster seat if needed. Also, we have been advised by the City of Dearborn to make sure we have only DuVall students from grades kindergarten to fifth grade, who have signed up and paid for the pool can come to the pool due to safety liability. They will have a staff member at the gate to make sure and will not allow parents to come in with younger children. Please be aware that you can come to the picnic with younger siblings, but will not be able to enter the pool area. If you would like to take your child home from the picnic there will be a signout sheet available at the picnic area.

Recommended Route:

In order to avoid any possible traffic problems, a recommended route to the park will be to follow Beech Street to Outer Drive. Turn Right on Outer Drive and proceed to Cherry Hill. Turn Left on Cherry Hill. Proceed to North Silvery Lane. Turn Right on North Silvery Lane and proceed to our destination

Signing out students:

If you are driving other students to the All School Picnic and need to leave with your child, please return to DuVall any other students you are driving before signing out your child. If you are only driving your child(ren), you may sign your child(ren) out from the park. A centralized sign out sheet will be kept near all of the picnic tables.

Weather:

In the event of a short rain, we will monitor the weather throughout the day and make a determination if we return back to the building. In the event of a thunderstorm or prolonged rain, all chaperones should take all the students they are driving directly back to the school. The students will report to the gym and go directly to their assigned areas. Classroom designations have been placed on the walls for each class. The staff will take attendance.

Thank you for your help.
