The Parana Post 12/13

It’s hard to believe that we only have a week left of school!  Time sure does fly.

We’ve been learning:

Science:  Ask your child about the landforms that they’ve learned about:  deserts and oceans.

Reading and Writing:  We’ve been learning about the VIP, very important points, when reading and writing.  We started writing a report about an animal where we practiced taking notes on the information we were reading and taking notes on the very important parts.

Spelling:  This week we took a look at some consonant blends and generated new words from known patterns.

Math:  It’s been all about adding 2 digit numbers this week, a Math Common Assessment that tested kids on everything they’ve learned so far, and a Unit 5 Math test.  Those should be coming home today or Monday.

Next week:  We have our Holiday Party on Wednesday from 1-2.  The following volunteers are:

Mrs.  Evanko

Mrs.  Dowgiallo

Mrs.  Linenkugel

We are still in need of cinnamon red candies, small red gumdrops, and 24 juice boxes.

Have a great weekend and please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Gina Parana

Today students will be bringing home Math Journal page 106 if they didn’t finish it.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break!

Tonight’s homework is Home Link 4.5 and students know if they didn’t finish 92 and 94 then they will need to bring that home.

Practice our new spelling words and read for 20 minutes.  Thank you for taking the time to read for 20 minutes.  Ask your child comprehension questions too such as who is in the story, what is happening, why they think certain things are happening, and where they happened.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Gina Parana

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Families,

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  I feel so fortunate to work with your children each day.  They are a great group.  Have a great Thanksgiving with your families.

Today we worked on Math Journal pg.  86 and Home Link 4.4 will be coming home.  I have also sent home some fact triangles so your child can practice their math facts over the break.  We want the students to get fluent with knowing their addition and subtraction facts.  There are also some great games on the everydaymath site.

Have a wonderful break and see you on Monday, December 2nd!

Sincerely,

Gina Parana

The Parana Post

Hi Families,

Just a friendly reminder for the upcoming week:

Students only go to school Monday and Tuesday.

Monday:  We will make our Friendship Soup.  Please send a ziploc bag of vegetables that your child can cut in class such as carrots, celery, corn, etc.

Volunteers for Monday are:  Mrs.  McGeary, Mrs.  Evanko, Mrs.  Hazimeh, Mrs. Dowgiallo, and Mrs.  Cayton.

Volunteers can arrive at 9:30.  Volunteers will help students cut their vegetables and put them into the crock pot.

Thank you Mrs.  Linenkugel for supplying the 6 boxes of chicken broth!

Tuesday:  We will bring our regular lunch but have the soup as a side in the cafeteria.  It would be great if a volunteer could set these crock pots up in the morning in the cafeteria and help serve it at lunch.

1:45 on Tuesday:  We will perform our play.

Tuesday:  Tuesday is also our PBIS Celebration.  Those students that don’t have more than 6 greens on their calendar will celebrate with their friends with a board game of their choice.  Students can bring board games from home if they wish.

Thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,

Gina Parana
