The Parana Post 12/19

Posted by on December 20, 2013

Hi Families,

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday break.  I would also like to thank everyone for all of the wonderful thoughts, gifts, and cards.  Your children mean so much to me.  They are my school family and I think of them all of the time.

I have sent a letter with some things you can do over the holidays to keep education going throughout the 2 week break.

Some additional ideas are:

Read books from the library and write a summary of what the book was about, think of questions they may have before they go on, write a letter pretending to be the character and give details about what is happening.

Math:  In addition to the ideas in the note sent home you can play addition top it with your children.  Take a deck of cards.  Player 1 takes 2 cards and adds them.  Player 2 takes 2 cards and says the answer.  Whoever has the greater answer gets to keep all the cards.  Play until all the cards are gone.  The person with the most cards wins.

Practice 2 digit addition with regrouping/trading.

Writing:

Write a thank you note to Santa and anyone else that gave a gift.

Write about your favorite things to do in the winter.

Complete the snowman writing project due on January 6th.

Have a great break!  Thank you for everything!

Sincerely,

Gina Parana
