Hello ERT!

Dear Students and Parents – I am your student’s ERT teacher.  I am sure that you are as concerned as I am about the physical health of our students and for that reason, I think it was the right decision for the Governor of Michigan to shut down the schools during this time.  Social distancing is a very important way to reduce the spread of an infectious disease such as this and we need to all be responsible and stay in and away from others as much as we can.

The school district has asked us to regularly provide assignments to our students, which I plan to do. Not only will it help us keep on track, but it will keep our students minds engaged during this break.

I need parental support in the following areas –

     1.  Students need to check for an email from me each day.  I will not accept formative work late, just like in my classroom, so they will need to stay on top of due dates.

     2. It is vital that students do their own, independent work.  They will submit their work using Google docs and I need them (and you) to know that I will check the document history.  The ONLY person documents should be shared with is me.  If they share it with other students, your student and anyone they shared it with will get a zero for plagiarism/cheating.  This is a unique way that many are not used to learning and sharing their work with their teacher, and their integrity is vital as they create work that can be easily copied if shared with others. If it looks like they copied (or shared work with others), I will treat it as if they did so.

      3. If your student does NOT have daily access to a computer, I need one of the parents to email me about this and include a phone number where I can reach you to discuss alternative options.  My email address is osbornl@dearbornschools.org

      4. Parents need to help students find a place and time each day to complete and submit school work, and they need to view ParentConnect regularly to ensure that this work is being done.

5. Students need to enroll in my Google classroom. The code for this class is 4uxrot5.

Please let me know if you have any questions during this challenging time!  Thank you, Ms. Lynne Osborne
