Khan Academy Trouble?

All middle school students were assigned summer learning using Khan Academy.

We are aware of the recent issues with Khan Academy being removed from Clever.

In order to continue with your math summer learning minutes, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Dearborn Public Schools homepage
  2. Go to Student Portal
  3. Type khanacademy.org in URL and click enter
  4. Your name or ID number will appear on the top right corner of your screen,

if not, follow the steps prompted.

  1. Make sure you are using your Dearborn school´s gmail account and NOT your personal account.
  2. If you can not view your minutes, your teacher will  be able to retrieve the information in the fall.

**Remember only 480 exercise minutes count towards summer leaning.

**This will be your first formative grade in the Fall.

Reminder, Parent Survey, PTA Fundraiser

All grades for last week’s assignments are entered! Late work grades have been updated based on what I have been emailed about up through this morning!

REMINDERS:

7th Grade Math

Please be sure to have all math late work completed by Tuesday night (June 9th).  I recommend that students log in to Student Connect to check their math grades by Monday June 8th. If you see that you are missing more than 5 points for an assignment in the grade book it is because you did not complete all the skills assigned for that week. If you are missing between 1 and 5 points, you did not earn all the points for a skill due to your smart score in IXL or percent in Khan….you can retry the skill to earn more points if you would like.

Computer Applications

Please be sure to have all late work completed by Tuesday night (June 9th).  I recommend that students log in to Student Connect to check their math grades by Monday June 8th. If you have received less than 10 points on an assignment or are missing participation points, you can make up those points and submit (or resubmit) the assignment(s). Be sure you follow all of the directions!

Parents, Dearborn Schools is hoping to get your feedback…

Week of 5/25

I will have grades updated tonight for assignments completed last week. If your child is missing a grade for something on Wednesday, please have them send me an email or post a private comment on the Google Classroom page.

Video Meetings (ALL CLASSES)

This week I am going to hold chat sessions on Thursday (5/28) at the following times. I am asking that all students attend and just check-in. If your child needs extra help I will be able to help with specific questions there. I created an iLearn course for each class and have already made each student a member. Once in the iLearn course they have to click the circle and join the chat session.

  • Advisory: 1:15 – 1:30
  • 1st Hour: 1:30 – 1:50
  • 2nd Hour: 1:50 – 2:10
  • 4th Hour: 2:10 – 2:30
  • 5th Hour: 2:30 – 2:45
  • 6th Hour: 2:45 – 3:00

7th Grade Mathematics

This week we are working on area of circles. I highly recommend you begin with the Khan Academy work for this week first. You will see that I assigned two videos, two articles, and 2 practice exercises in Khan Academy, however I suggest you complete them in the order I listed below. You will notice that one of the articles and one video talks a little bit about circumference. Certainly, the information is worth listening to and reading about, however you will not have to work on any circumference problems this week…you don’t have to answer the circumference examples in the article either. Before you start the first IXL problem, you probably want to click the part where it says “Learn With an Example” which will show right above the problem, but below the light blue bar that tells the name of the skill you are working on. You will definitely want to be sure you have a calculator with you when you do all of your work in Khan Academy or IXL this week, or use the online calculator that I shared a link to in Google Classroom.

Assignments are due THIS FRIDAY, May 29: Khan Academy, IXL, and 45 minutes on your Ready Path.

The KHAN ASSIGNMENTS are:
* Video: Labeling Parts of a Circle
* Article: Radius, Diameter & Circumference
* Exercise: Radius and Diameter
* Video: Area of a Circle
* Article: Area of Circles Review
* Exercise: Area of a Circle

The IXL ASSIGNMENT is:
7th grade skill  * AA5 (Area of Circles)
