We have been very busy lately! I apologize for keeping you in suspense for 2 weeks. Here is what we have been up to…
October 1-5 We finished up our second lesson of the first unit. This lesson was all about finding the unit rate when given a set of numbers to compare. Students were expected to turn in pages 9-16 from their Practice and Problem Solving Books on Friday (October 5th). They started the quiz for Lesson 2 on Friday. Most students were able to complete it during class. During the time they were taking the quiz, I check their Interactive Student Notebooks for the vocabulary definitions that were assigned on September 18th. We also did a CER activity together to get an idea of how to make a claim and prove it in writing for math problems.
October 8-12 We finished the quiz on Monday. We started looking at the next lesson on equivalent ratios. We will be done with this lesson and taking the quiz next week on Wednesday or Thursday next week. We took a quiz this week on our bellwork topic (Greatest Common Factor) that we have been working on for 2 weeks.
Coming up: Next week we will be focusing on finishing our third lesson from the unit and taking the quiz. We will be moving on to lesson 4 which will be all about solving problems with unit rate.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- If you have not signed up to be in my remind class, I suggest you do so! I send home frequent homework reminders and also reminders to get in their minutes for Khan Academy each week.
- Students should be getting 30 minutes each week of time on their Khan Academy accounts. To be able to see the time they logged, they MUST login with Clever on the Dearborn student resources page.
- If your student forgets the homework assignment or loses their copy of the pages, I always post them in the Google Classroom app that the students have access to. They can print the pages at home so they don’t fall behind.
- If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to e-mail me directly at osaka@dearbornschools.org
