7TH GRADE MATHEMATICS

If you have not signed up for class dojo, please email me! I am going to post more frequently and try to log at least 1 behavior point daily for each student (positive or negative).

If your student does not have dry erase markers or earbuds, it might be a good idea to purchase some for your student. Some Chromebook activities that we work on in class will have material for students to listen to. Please have a pair that can plug into the computer. I do not know how well air-pods work with these computers.

Congratulations on making it through the first semester! We are finishing up today with Lesson 6 by taking the first quiz of the new card marking. Students have had over a week to work on the concepts that were covered. Lesson 7 is the last lesson in this Unit and we will start it tomorrow. It covers the concept of adding and subtracting rational numbers (decimals/fractions). After Lesson 7 is complete, we will have a Unit 1 quiz that covers the first 7 lessons. I have highlighted some activities in IXL that students could work on to try and remember all that we have learned so far. The week is planned as follows:

• Monday- Finish Math Menu Homework: anything not completed
• Tuesday- No School
• Wednesday- Lesson 6 Quiz! No homework.
• Thursday- Finish quiz. Discussion on math menu and reflection so far. Start Lesson 7?
• Friday- Introduction to Lesson 7 (if not done Thursday). Homework: pg. 59-60 (new packet)

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

If your child does not have earbuds or headphones, it might be a good idea to purchase some for your student. There are some activities that we do in class that require students to listen to a video. Please do not send in air-pods, they will not work with the computers. (Send in ones that can be plugged into the desktop).

Congratulations on finishing the first half of this course! We are almost done working with Excel and should be doing quiz activities this week or next. Our next focus will be on PowerPoint. We will stay there until the end of the semester. The week will go as follows:

• Monday- Spreadsheet Activity # 7
• Tuesday-No School
• Wednesday-Finish Activity #7
• Thursday- Pixel Activity
• Friday- Makeup Day?
