Last week (Week 10) we were able to review and finish the 4th Lesson in our first unit. We also took a quiz on our bell-work skill of finding the GCF (greatest common factor) between two numbers. The first card marking came to a close on Friday, November 2. The second half of the week was the start of our final lesson in the first unit, where students are solving problems with percents.
This week we are finishing up Lesson 5. We will be taking the practice test on Thursday and the quiz will take place on Friday. Now that this lesson is done, we will be looking forward to taking the Unit test next week (Wednesday), which will cover all of the lessons we have gone over this year. Our topic for Bell-work has also changed this week. We have shifted from GCF to LCM (least common multiple). We will be spending a few weeks on this topic before a quiz comes up.
Conferences will be held next week on Monday and Wednesday. Due to time constraints, these conferences will be STUDENT LED. It is important that your student comes with you. We will be taking time this week to fill out a form in class that students will be able to reflect upon when meeting with you. I will be available for questions after you have met with your student first.
Things to remember:
- If you have not signed up to be in my remind class, I suggest you do so! I send home frequent homework reminders and also reminders to get in their minutes for Khan Academy each week.
- Students should be getting 30 minutes each week of time on their Khan Academy accounts. To be able to see the time they logged, they MUST login with Clever on the Dearborn student resources page.
- If your student forgets the homework assignment or loses their copy of the pages, I always post them in the Google Classroom app that the students have access to. They can print the pages at home so they don’t fall behind.
