News for 8th Graders
High School Options for our 8TH Graders
Did you know that Dearborn offers several options for 8th graders and their families to consider besides the traditional high school experience. Read below and find our more:
- Henry Ford Early College – Henry Ford Early College is a unique five year early college program that gives students the opportunity to attain both a high school diploma and a two-year healthcare-related Associate Degree in five years at no cost to the student or parent.
- Michael Berry Career Center – Students at MBCC can choose from Career and Technical Education Programs in Design Technology (Drafting, Software or Design Concepts), Medical/Health (Allied Health, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting and Sports Med/Rehab) or Restaurant Hospitality. Students attend their home high school as well as MBCC.
- Collegiate Academy – The Collegiate Academy is a partnership with Henry Ford Community College to offer students the opportunity to earn both a high school diploma and a two-year Associate Arts or Science Degree in five years at no cost to parents or students. Students enter the three year program at the beginning of their junior year.
- Dearborn Center for Mathematics, Science, & Technology – DCMST is a specialized four year advanced, research based, science and math curriculum. Students attend their home school as well as DCMST. Applications are available for 8th graders online in January and early February.

Good morning Salina Intermediate Families
As we begin our year together, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jamie Fakhoury-Nowak and I am honored to be the school guidance counselor at Salina Intermediate. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Wayne State University and my second Master’s Degree from Spring Arbor University, in School Counseling. This is my 19th year in the Dearborn Public Schools. It will be my goal to make sure you and your child know me and know that I am here to assist in any way I can.
