Hi everyone!

I am not going to be holding a meeting tomorrow on iLearn, as we are busy with online teacher meetings, committee meetings, and packing up the classroom. However, I will be available through email if you have any questions! I am starting to look through your Core Democratic value projects, too! 🇺🇸

Don’t forget to check in with your special area teachers so they can give you a grade for participating.

Also, for sure check out Mrs. Bagnall’s Howard Masked Singer activity for this week!!!! It’s so fun!! 💜🎶 click the form below to watch and vote!

Hi everyone- this will be our last calendar week of new learning!! Woo!! You have all done an awesome job.

If you have a chance this week, please check in with your specials teachers (gym, art, music) for their weekly activities. You still have time to participate!!

Keep working on your Core Democratic Value projects too. This is your last project for the year- I hope you enjoy it. Check Google Classroom for more direction.

As always, let me know if you have any questions!

Wednesday, May 27- please come to Howard tomorrow :)

Hi everyone!!

I just got back from a long day of packing up the students’ belongings at Howard.

Tomorrow I will be handing out belongings to students from 11:30-2:30 pm. We will be at the door where the fourth graders normally line up, on Lawerence. If you could bring your student with you, that would be awesome! I have a gift I would like to give them! 🥰

In return, please bring back 1) science textbook 2) library books 3) any classroom chapter books/reading group books

Finally, I am attaching 2 photos of items of clothing/ boots that were left in the room. If they belong to your child, please let me know. Thanks and I hope to see everyone tomorrow!

Tuesday, May 26

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing holiday weekend with family and friends!

We are ALMOST at the end of this school year. We can do it! 🙂

I am looking forward to meeting with everyone today- the whole class together!- at 3 PM for our Birthday Bash Virtual Celebration! Wear your favorite hat or special outfit, have your parents prepare you a birthday treat if they can (or just a special snack), and we will have some fun!

This week’s calendar will be linked on the bottom of this post. Please see Google Classroom for more information about the Core Democratic Values slideshow project. One more thing- it is not too late to participate in the special area classes! Their activities are meant to be short and fun, so please head over to their blogs to join in.

Finally, an important message:

Distribution of Student Belongings and Returning of School Belongings on 5/28 11:30-2:30 pm

“We hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed this holiday weekend and had time to take a break from the new norm of the “remote lifestyle.”  🙂  We are gearing up for the end of the school year and we wanted to give you a heads up about this coming Thursday, May 28th.  On Thursday, May 28th from 11:30-2:30 pm we will have a distribution of student belongings.  Students will receive personal belongings from their desks in a brown bag labeled with their name on it.  If you have a specific item that you are concerned about (i.e. jacket, eyeglasses etc…), please be sure to communicate with your child’s teacher so that we do not miss anything important.  Additionally, we will be asking that students return specific school belongings back to the school on this distribution day.  We will NOT be asking you to return Chromebooks at this time so please hang on to those for now.  You may come to the school anytime during the 3 hour time frame (11:30-2:30 pm) on May 28th.  Please see below for a reminder of where to drive-up depending on the grade-level(s) of your child(ren).  As a friendly reminder, parents and students are not allowed in the building for their safety so please remain in your vehicles at all times.  Thank you for your continued flexibility and patience during this unprecedented time.

Stay safe,
Mirvat Sabbagh”

Hi everyone- don’t worry, this will be short!

I just wanted to hop on and take a minute to say that I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break this weekend. Happy Memorial Day and Eid Mubarak to those who celebrate! I hope you can all enjoy time with family and take advantage of the beautiful weather!

If you need to, take the weekend to finish up this week’s calendar activities. If you find yourself wanting something extra to do, try to participate in some of the specials’ activities from gym, art, or music.

I will see you all next Tuesday for our virtual birthday bash celebration at a new time- 3 pm! 🎉🎂We are almost at the finish line. We got this! Have a wonderful weekend 💜💜

Wednesday, May 20

Hi everyone! I am SO happy the sunshine is back today. I plan to go outside and take a long walk later this afternoon.

A few things~ you will have no assignments this week Friday and next week Monday due to the long weekend. 🙂 However, next Tuesday, May 26, I would like to use our iLearn meeting time to have a “Virtual Birthday Bash” since we never got to have our celebration at school. Parents, if you could provide your child with a couple birthday treats to snack on during our meeting, that would be fun! I also invite everyone to wear something special if they want- a birthday hat, necklace, shirt, whatever you would like! Have fun with it. We will snack, chat, and play a couple games. 🙂

I forgot to share the flower dissection pictures with you yesterday, so here they are today!! Thank you for sharing Jake, Maya, Ali Y., Jana, Celine! I think it is so fun- I am going to go outside with Mr. Nosewicz, pick a flower, and dissect it. I’ll share my photo tomorrow. We didn’t get a chance to do it yet because of the rain.

Tuesday, May 19

Good morning!!

Girls, I will see you for our iLearn meet today at 12. Boys, I will see you at 1. Please try to have a pencil and paper with you, as we will do some math together, and play a game after if we have time. 🙂

Yesterday, you enjoyed a virtual field trip to the aquarium! Today, please choose one of the areas of the aquarium you visited (Ocean Shore, Global Rivers, Changing Rivers, Shark Canyon, Confluence Gallery, or the Deep) and draw a picture of that habitat. Include 3 animals and/or plants that live in that habitat. You can also label their features if you can. We will share on Google Classroom and during our meetings next week.

As always, please continue to follow the calendar for your reading/math assignments.

Keep up the good work! I’ll see you at 12 and 1 🙂

Monday, May 18

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I was able to spend some time outside with my family, and we even had a bonfire with S’mores. 🙂

First of all, a GIANT shout-out to those who have already completed and shared their final draft of the Happy Trails TDA with me. I know this was not an easy assignment. It took a lot of focus, stamina, and critical thinking. Give yourselves a HUGE pat on the back Kamel, Julia, Jana, Mahdi, Abraham, Mohamed D., Jonah, Maya, Lilah, Ali S., Xavier, Hussein, Celine, Jake, Mona, Ali Y., and Mohammed Z.! I am so proud! If you didn’t finish yet, no worries- I’ll update this list later this week. Please make sure to finish this assignment, as it is part of your writing grade.

One more huge shout-out to those students who completed everything this week: Jana, Mahdi, Abraham,Mohamed D., Jonah, Maya, Julia, Mia, Ali S., Hussein, Celine, Jake, Ali Y., and Mohammed Z! Again, if you need to finish either the TDA or math quiz, please go back and do so. I am here if you have questions about either of those activities.

This week is going to be awesome. We have the Memorial Day long weekend to look forward to, which means no new assignments will be posted Friday or Monday. We also tried to make this week a little easier, since last week took a lot of stamina! AND we get to take some virtual field trips! I hope this gives you (students and families!) a little break. Weekly Calendar PDF: (less blurry than the pic below!)

Finally, if you didn’t get a chance to dissect a flower yet, don’t worry- but those who have really enjoyed it! I challenge you to take the time to do this fun activity with your family. I have a few pictures to share with you of the flower dissections. I’m going to save them for tomorrow. 🙂

Friday, May 15

Hi everyone! It looks like once the rain gets past us, it will be a beautiful weekend!!

Today is a “catch-up”/finish everything for the week day. I am going to post a checklist of things that should be finished on Google Classroom. If you could go over it with your student, that would be great! 🙂

I know the writing took a lot of stamina this week. I am proud of the responses I have read so far! Thank you, parents, for helping them with this. Writing is such an important skill, and I wanted to be sure they had the opportunity to write one more 5-paragraph essay before the end of the school year.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Thursday, May 14

Hi everyone!

I apologize for the late post. I had a couple meetings this morning, and when I was done, I realized that I accidentally uploaded the wrong quiz at first! I put up Topic C instead of Topic B. The problem is fixed now. A few of you probably wondered why it wasn’t making sense! I am so sorry!

Today, please try to take your math quiz on Edulastic (link on Google Classroom).

Also, be sure to share your RACER blueprint and your final draft of your 5-paragraph essay with me.

If you want to save the flower dissecting for a nicer day with no rain, that is no problem! I just thought it would be a fun springtime activity. Thank you Celine for asking about this activity- I added some additional videos and pictures to help you with it on Google Classroom!

Let me know if you have any questions!!
