Week of November 11

I hope everyone enjoyed their super early snow day yesterday! 🙂 It was definitely a nice surprise.

A few reminders for the week–

Conferences are going to be held tomorrow (November 14) as scheduled. If your conference was originally scheduled for yesterday, the district is working on a new date. It will be either Monday or Wednesday next week. My hope is to keep everyone’s time slot from yesterday the same, just on a different date. I will let you know as soon as I know!

Our zoo field trip is next week, November 20. Our concert will be Thursday, November 21. We are very excited about both events!

Spelling/vocabulary words for the week are related to social studies and human/environment interaction. The words are: adapt, aqueduct, climate, elevation, environment, modify, fossil fuel, natural resource, landform, and pollute.

Students just finished up their first passage-based writing assignments. They did an amazing job analyzing the points of view from a story we read in class. Their writing is really maturing! If you have conferences this week or next, take a look at your child’s writing hanging on our bulletin board. 🙂

Finally, in math, PLEASE continue to have your child practice their basic multiplication facts. They can practice with flash cards, or many online games. One website they could use is https://www.factmonster.com/math/flashcard?op[0]=multiplication&level=1

There are many ways to practice, but please make sure your child is fluent in their facts so they can continue to be successful as we work with the standard algorithm for multiplication and division.

Finally, a big shout-out to ALL our Student Council candidates! They all did an AMAZING job presenting their speeches to the class. Although Ali Yassine is our new class senator, they are ALL winners in my mind. 🙂 Congratulations!! A big congratulations also to Mona, who is Mrs. Thomas’s Artist of the Month!!

As always, please email me with any questions. Have a great week!
