Constitution Day Writing

The first ten amendments to the Constitution are known as the “Bill of Rights.” These amendments guarantee many of our individual rights including freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, the right to bear arms, the right to be free from warrantless searches and seizures, the privilege against self–incrimination, the right to trial by jury in civil and criminal cases, and the right to legal counsel in criminal cases.

In a five paragraph essay, explain which of these rights is the most important and defend your choice.

TCAs:

  1. The writer’s opinion is clearly stated and there are at least three details/ pieces of evidence to support the author’s opinion (Ideas and Content) +/- 5 pts
  2. The writer has a strong introduction and the paper follows a well thought out pattern structural pattern. (Organization) +/-5 pts.

APUSH Period 7 Test Correction

The Period 7 tests are open until Wednesday 5/31. Test corrections must be written by hand and not done on the computer (unless you have already turned them in). You need to write the question with the correct answer, and then justify why the right answer is correct.

For tonight, pick 2 of the following long response questions to answer. Be sure to add in any back ground information that you can to fully answer the question. Create a thesis and then defend it using at least of 5 paragraphs. Time yourself while your are answer the questions. Try to write as much as you can in 35 mins (use 2 mins to create a rough outline then answer the question).

Period 3:

Some historians have argued that colonel economic developments influenced the formation of new cultural identities. Support, modify, or refute this interpretation, providing specific evidence to justify your answers.

Period 4:

Evaluate the extent to which the Market Revolution from 1815 to 1846 contributed to maintaining continuity as well as fostering change in United States society.

Period 7:

Evaluate the idea that some historians argue that the Progressives failed in achieving their goals. Support, modify, or refute this interpretation, providing specific evidence to justify your answer.
