REVISED Guidelines for Students

Using the Dearborn Public Library during Finals

In the recent past, the library has dealt with inappropriate behavior during the two weeks prior to final exams (January and June). Students have been excessively loud, disrespectful, and destructive, causing considerable stress for both staff and other library patrons. Because of these issues, we are putting new guidelines into effect in an attempt to deter this behavior.

During the period of January 16 – January 26, 2018:

  • All students between the ages of 13-17 are required to have either in-building parent/guardian supervision or a parental/guardian-signed agreement that the student will abide by the Library Code of Conduct while in any library building.
  • If parent/guardian remains in the building: If a parent/guardian elects to remain in the building, they may supervise up to 4 students.  They will be required to sign a form listing the students’ names and agreeing that they are responsible for that group.
  • If parent chooses to leave the building: If the parent chooses to leave the building, they will be required to sign a form providing accurate, personal contact information as well as the contact information of an alternate person authorized to pick-up the student if deemed necessary by library staff.  Library staff decisions are binding.
  • Additionally, all students must show school ID or other valid photo identification upon entering the building. To enforce this, the Library will post staff at the public entrance doors to greet people as they enter the building.
  • Children under 13 years of age are not allowed to remain in a library building without direct parental supervision at any time of year.
  • Any information collected will not be used for the purpose of creating a library record but, should a disciplinary situation arise, may be shared with law enforcement, school officials, the student’s parents and library staff.

Very Important Read for Your Success!

Tenth Grade Team

Mr. Mustafa (10th Grade Principal)    Mrs. Allie (10th grade Liaison)   Mr. Allie  (Social Responsibility Technician)

CELL PHONES – Cell Phones are not allowed to be out in the classroom during class time.  Cell Phones distract you from paying attention to the instruction in the classroom which in turn affects your academic performance in the classroom.  There will be consequences if you are referred to the office for technology abuse.

ATTENDANCE -Make sure you get to class on time and avoid any tardies or Late’s.  The audit policy will be enforced and there will be no exceptions.  Last school year over 200 students were placed on audit and are repeating their classes in nigh school.                       4 tardies = 1 absence              2 Late’s = 1 Absence            15 minutes late = 1 Absence

TRIPLE (H) RULE =  Absolutely  No headphones, No Hats and No Hoodies.  Headphones in your ears while in the hallways  causes a safety issue in the event we need to evacuate the hallways.  You need to be able to hear an adult while you’re walking in the halls.  If your headphones are confiscated, the only way you will get them back is if your parents pick them up.  Hats and Headphone conceal your identity in the event we need to identify anyone on camera.

PASSES =   Your teachers were asked to not allow any passes during class time.  When they say NO, then that means NO.  You will be called out of class if that needs to happen.

PBIS ( Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) = PBIS is a live document in which all your teachers and administrative team can view on a daily basis to track all your infractions.  The purpose of PBIS is to make sure you understand the appropriate behavior, that is why your teachers spend time to go over classroom expectation and routines.  You can qualify for a reward if you continue to show the positive behavior throughout the school year.

FIGHTING =  Fighting will result in a suspension of 5 days or more depending on the extent.  Retaliation will also result in a 5 days or more suspension.  You will also be issued a ticket up to $500.00 in which you will have to appear in court for a hearing.  If you are having issues with someone please see any of the 10th grade team members such as your Teacher, Liaison, Social Responsibility Technician and counselor.

YOUR SUCCESS– As 10th graders you are the emerging leaders at Fordson.   This means that you need to lead by example through your actions and behaviors.  We want you to have a successful school year by joining clubs and involving yourself in the school culture. PRIDE, TRADITION and LEGACY is what Fordson students are all about.

Thanks

Mr. Mustafa

PLEASE READ: Important Information below!

Dear 10th Graders,
Here are some important announcements,
I. Studying for Exams-  Please begin reviewing for your final exams.  Don’t wait till the last minute to study.  This will be the grade that appears on your transcript permanently.
II. Tutoring-  There is tutoring in the Media Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:25 pm until 3:25 pm.  Please take advantage and get the help you need prior to final exams.
III. Public Library Behavior (Esper and Henry Ford Centennial)- It is a privilege to have libraries in the community that we can use.  For the most part our students at fordson use these libraries with no problems.  Lately librarians from the public libraries have contacted Mrs. Alcodray about a few students who are being disruptive and causing problems for others who are studying or reading. If your name is forwarded to fordson administration for disruptive behavior there will be consequences which may include you being banned from both Esper and Henry Ford Centennial.

Thank You,

Mr. Mustafa
