School Closures

Greetings,

All Dearborn Public Schools will be closed for students effective immediately, March 13, 2020. This is a result of Governor Whitmer’s order to close all K-12 school buildings, public, private, and boarding, starting Monday, March 16 until Sunday, April 5.

Dearborn Public Schools spring break will take place from Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 10. Students will return to school on Monday, April 13, 2020.

Students may report on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the normal start time to pick up their belongings and school supplies.

All staff should report on Friday, March 13, 2020 to assist students. Staff will only attend for the morning half of the day followed by a half day release time.

All staff should continue to check their email daily for updates and information.

Please direct all questions should be directed to your immediate supervisor.

As of Thursday, 3-12-2020 there are no reported or confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the Dearborn Public Schools.

This closure of schools is part of a nationwide effort to slow the spread of the COVID 19 virus. These actions will not eliminate the COVID 19 virus, cure COVID 19,  and this will not guarantee that a person will not contract the COVID virus at a later time. Again, these actions are part of a nationwide effort to slow the spread and limit the number of people who will become infected.

Thank you

Field Trip

Hi Parents!

Just a reminder that our field trip to McDonald’s and shopping at The Hill is tomorrow 2/25. If your child does not want to eat McDonald’s they can eat the school lunch before we leave!

Remember to send in money if you would like your child to eat McDonald’s or shop.

SAFE Program

Students in grades 3-5 will be participating in a district initiative through the SAFE program to talk about substance abuse and prevention.  Presenters from the SAFE program will meet with our students in their classrooms for two 30 minute sessions (February and March).

The first session will focus on psychoeducation and awareness of Nicotine, alcohol, marijuana, and vaping.  Students will complete an interactive activity that is geared towards peer pressure and how to say “no”.  The second session in March will include a brainstorming activity with an interactive experience refusing these substances and using resources to help others.  Students will learn how these substances affect the brain and the body, and what types of social situations the may find themselves in where they will need strong skills to say “no”.

There will also be a parent session offered in March.  Please contact the school with any questions that you may have.Kristin M. WaddellPrincipal, Whitmore Bolles Elementary
