I started working at Unis Middle School as a Resource Teacher in January of 2012. It has been exciting working with my co-teachers and the great students in our building.
I took an interesting road to get to Unis. After I graduated and completed my internship year at Michigan State (Go GREEN!), I moved to Virginia. While I was there, I worked as a resource room teacher K-5 for one year and then at a non-profit in Washington, D.C. for two years. It was a very different world and I learned so much from the students and volunteers who supported our cause to ensure that every student who came through our doors graduated high school with a post-secondary goal.
After I moved back to Michigan, I worked at a charter school in Detroit and then met a teacher at Unis who helped me join all the amazing teachers in Dearborn.
I finished my master’s degree a few years ago, so I don’t eat, breathe, and sleep school work anymore, but I do have a very fresh memory of what it is like to be a student (just like all of your other teachers do!).
After all the work is done, I like watching movies, biking, playing board and card games, cuddling with my cats, and hanging out with my friends and family.
That is my life in a few paragraphs, what about you?
