Learning Activities for Wednesday May 20th!

Hello Families, Happy Wednesday!

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful day yesterday <3

Please remember to send pictures of your child participating in the daily activities. We need to be hearing from each of you at least 2 times a week.

Good Morning Parents and Students, Mrs. Abdellah and I miss you all so much.

Today our letter is Mm and Nn, what sound does these letters make? 

Academic Activities

Our academic activities today both use paper cups, reuse the same cups for both activities!

Literacy Activity

Use rocks, dried beans, or another small item for your child to practice sorting the letters in their name in the matching cup.

For example, if your child’s name is Zeinab there would be 6 cups Z, e, i, n, a, and a b.

Write the different letters on multiple rocks, dried beans, or other item you chose to use.

Have your child sort the item in the bowl into each individual cup.

Have them identify what that letter in their name is before dropping it into the cup.

Math Activity

Draw on a piece of paper circle with different amounts of dots inside depending on your child’s ability (0-10, 0-15, 10-20, 20-30+)

On the bottom of the cups write coordinating numbers.

Mix up the cups and let your child count the dots and match the corresponding cup.

Creative Activity

Try an exciting science experiment with eggs!

Lunch Time

Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables <3 Ms. Stafiej is having a pizza quesadilla with strawberries!

Chore Time

Clean your spot after lunch, help to wash the dishes, clean up your toys and your room. 

Quiet Time

Children have time to relax and “charge” their bodies. If your child doesn’t normally nap at home, they can read stories or do a quiet activity of your choice (no screens please!)

Work Time

5 to 10 minutesPlan for Work Time:  Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).  
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home. 
التخطيط لوقت العمل ( وقت اللعب): ساعد طفلك على بناء مهارة تنظيم الوقت بوضع خطة  معهم عن لعبهم. هذا ما كان يفعله كل الطلاب كل يوم في المدرسة. هذا يساعد الأولاد على تنظيم أفكارهم. الأهل أيضا يضعون خطط دائما لتنظيم أفكارهم مثل قائمة التسوق قبل الذهاب إلى المتجر, كتابة القوائم تساعد على تنظيم اليوم….. 
الأولاد سوف يخبروكم ما هي خطتهم/ ماذا سيلعبون/ مع من سيلعبون/ ماذا سيستخدمون من أدوات في لعبهم
1 hourWork Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
وقت العمل :  يجب أن لا يستعمل الأولاد الإلكترونيات . يستطيع الأولاد استخدام الألعاب التي تساعدهم في  التخيل و البناء و الإبداع  
15 minutesClean Up Time:  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
وقت التنظيف: ينظف الأولاد الفوضى التي نتجت عن لعبهم.
5 to 10 minutesRecall Time:  Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
وقت التذكر: بناء ذاكرة الأولاد و مراجعة الأحداث عن طريق جعل طفلك يعيد سرد ما قام به خلال وقت اللعب( اسال طفلك: اخبرني كيف قمت بذلك؟ أو ماذا فعلت بعد ذلك؟)

Daily 5 – Listen to Reading

Have the children collect a few books they would like to hear. Parents read to your child!

Music Activity

Here is Ms. Duncanson from McDonald Elementary school with another song to teach us!
