Learning Activities for Monday April 27th

Important Update

Hello Parents, Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Per the Superintendent, Google Meets are discontinued. I will keep you updated on further meetings tomorrow!

***Don’t forget to send pictures from todays activities, which will be shared on Friday’s post! (A minimum of 2 pictures per week of different learning activities is required)

Morning Message

Good Morning Parents and Students, Mrs. Abdellah and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Play Mystery Letter… what letter are you thinking of? Have your child take guesses.

Ms. Stafiej and Crunch are playing catch in our yard. You can play catch too, or tag!

Academic Activities

Math Activity

  • Find a newspaper or grocery store ad from the mail.
  • Using child scissors… cut out all of the numbers you see (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
  • After you finish cutting out the numbers, sort them into piles by their number.
  • Which number do you have the most of?
  • Which number do you have the least?
  • Do you have the same amount (equal amounts) of one number?
  • Compare to how many Ms. Stafiej found… how many 9’s did I find? How many did you find? Who has more?

Literacy Activity

Write Your Name!

  • Use your favorite color crayon to write your first name.
  • *Need a challenge? Write your last name in a different color crayon!
  • **Need another challenge? Find out their favorite color and write the names of your family members using that color crayon.

If your child is having difficulty writing their name, use a highlighter or light color to model it for them. Then have your child use a different color to trace over the letters.

(This works better than a dotted line because your child is then tracing the letter with smooth lines as opposed to just focusing on connecting the dots)

Lunch Time

Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables <3 Ms. Stafiej is having spaghetti with green beans.

Chore Time

Clean your spot after lunch, help to wash the dishes, clean up your toys and your room. 

Quiet Time

Children have time to relax and “charge” their bodies. If your child doesn’t normally nap at home, they can read stories or do a quiet activity of your choice (no screens please!)

Work Time

 5 to 10 minutesPlan for Work Time:  Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).  
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home. 
التخطيط لوقت العمل ( وقت اللعب): ساعد طفلك على بناء مهارة تنظيم الوقت بوضع خطة  معهم عن لعبهم. هذا ما كان يفعله كل الطلاب كل يوم في المدرسة. هذا يساعد الأولاد على تنظيم أفكارهم. الأهل أيضا يضعون خطط دائما لتنظيم أفكارهم مثل قائمة التسوق قبل الذهاب إلى المتجر, كتابة القوائم تساعد على تنظيم اليوم….. 
الأولاد سوف يخبروكم ما هي خطتهم/ ماذا سيلعبون/ مع من سيلعبون/ ماذا سيستخدمون من أدوات في لعبهم
1 hourWork Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
وقت العمل :  يجب أن لا يستعمل الأولاد الإلكترونيات . يستطيع الأولاد استخدام الألعاب التي تساعدهم في  التخيل و البناء و الإبداع  
15 minutesClean Up Time:  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
وقت التنظيف: ينظف الأولاد الفوضى التي نتجت عن لعبهم.
5 to 10 minutesRecall Time:  Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
وقت التذكر: بناء ذاكرة الأولاد و مراجعة الأحداث عن طريق جعل طفلك يعيد سرد ما قام به خلال وقت اللعب( اسال طفلك: اخبرني كيف قمت بذلك؟ أو ماذا فعلت بعد ذلك؟)

2:30 pm – Academic Time

Daily 5 – Read to Self

Find a few books in your house. Read to yourself for about 10 minutes.
