Learning Activities for Tuesday May 19th!

Dear Parents,

Happy Tuesday!

Don’t forget to send pictures from today’s activities to me, thank you to the families who did yesterday.

Ms. Abdellah and I will be calling some families later today and again tomorrow! This is just to check in and talk about next year.

Good Morning!

Good Morning Parents and Students, today is Tuesday!

Today we are looking at the letters Kk and Ll.

Exercise

Today is a beautiful day outside, just throw on a light jacket because there are a few sprinkles! Ms. Stafiej is taking JoAnne and Crunch for a nice long walk. What will you do outside? Ride your bike in the backyard, play tag with your siblings, play hopscotch, etc! Make sure you get some fresh air 🙂

Academic Activity

Let’s take a virtual field trip with our special guests Mr. Liepe and Mr. Butler to the Fire Station. Thank you!

Literacy

Work together with your family to make a fire safety plan!

Count how many fire detectors you have (a great time to check the batteries parents!), can you write the number?

Are the smoke detectors quiet or loud? (Show them how they sound by pushing the test button)

Draw a picture of your family meeting spot if there were a fire.

How many fire extinguishers do you have at your house/garage? Can you write the number?

Show your family what stop-drop-and roll means. Practice it 5 times!

*Send a picture to Ms. Stafiej

Math

Use chalk to draw a building with a fire on the top. Put numbers on the different windows. Have your child count as they “climb”. Your child will use the hose to “put the fire out” 🙂

Another option is to use plastic cups, stack 3, 5, or even 10. have your child use the hose to “put the fire out”. Have them count how many to start, as they fall, count how many are left.

Creative

Practice drawing a firefighter, is this what you want to be when you grow up?

Lunch Time

Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables <3 Ms. Stafiej is having a salad with turkey and cucumbers!

Chore Time

Clean your spot after lunch, help to wash the dishes, clean up your toys and your room.

Quiet Time

Children have time to relax and “charge” their bodies. If your child doesn’t normally nap at home, they can read stories or do a quiet activity of your choice (no screens please!)

Work Time

5 to 10 minutesPlan for Work Time:  Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home.
1 hourWork Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
15 minutesClean Up Time:  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
5 to 10 minutesRecall Time:  Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
