Ms. Stafiej and Crunch are playing catch in our yard. You can play catch too, or take a walk around the block!
Academic Activities
Math Activity

Click on the link and choose a recipe to make with your child. I selected Pancake Animals, but you can choose another recipe to make together.
- Talk about the shapes of the foods you are using (“When this banana is sliced, what shape does it make?” “What shape does this strawberry look like?”)
- Make a pattern with the fruit slices you use (banana – strawberry – banana – strawberry – “What would come next?”)
- If you select a different recipe, have the child measure the ingredients with your support (“Can you scoop 1 cup of flour?” (“We need 4 strawberries… can you count 4?”)
Literacy Activity
Listen to the Story – The Very Hungry Caterpillar
- What foods did the caterpillar eat?
- What foods were healthy?
- Which ones were unhealthy?
- Which foods do you think helped the caterpillar grow?

Let’s take a look at our own food…
- Use a piece of paper (or 2 plates, 2 sections of your table, etc.) for two sections healthy and unhealthy
- Have your child look through your foods at home and select some of their favorites
- Talk with them to determine if the foods they are choose are healthy or unhealthy. (We talk at school about how we need to choose more healthy foods, and that it is ok to eat unhealthy foods but only SOMETIMES.)
*Need a challenge? Have your child think about some healthy foods they would like to try.
**Need another challenge? Have your child try writing the name of the foods they choose.
Lunch Time
Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables <3 Ms. Stafiej is having a turkey sandwich with an apple.
Chore Time
Clean your spot after lunch, help to wash the dishes, clean up your toys and your room.
Quiet Time
Children have time to relax and “charge” their bodies. If your child doesn’t normally nap at home, they can read stories or do a quiet activity of your choice (no screens please!)
Work Time
5 to 10 minutes | Plan for Work Time: Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with. Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..). Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home. التخطيط لوقت العمل ( وقت اللعب): ساعد طفلك على بناء مهارة تنظيم الوقت بوضع خطة معهم عن لعبهم. هذا ما كان يفعله كل الطلاب كل يوم في المدرسة. هذا يساعد الأولاد على تنظيم أفكارهم. الأهل أيضا يضعون خطط دائما لتنظيم أفكارهم مثل قائمة التسوق قبل الذهاب إلى المتجر, كتابة القوائم تساعد على تنظيم اليوم….. الأولاد سوف يخبروكم ما هي خطتهم/ ماذا سيلعبون/ مع من سيلعبون/ ماذا سيستخدمون من أدوات في لعبهم |
1 hour | Work Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS. Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create. وقت العمل : يجب أن لا يستعمل الأولاد الإلكترونيات . يستطيع الأولاد استخدام الألعاب التي تساعدهم في التخيل و البناء و الإبداع |
15 minutes | Clean Up Time: Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing. وقت التنظيف: ينظف الأولاد الفوضى التي نتجت عن لعبهم. |
5 to 10 minutes | Recall Time: Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”) وقت التذكر: بناء ذاكرة الأولاد و مراجعة الأحداث عن طريق جعل طفلك يعيد سرد ما قام به خلال وقت اللعب( اسال طفلك: اخبرني كيف قمت بذلك؟ أو ماذا فعلت بعد ذلك؟) |
