Learning Activities for Monday April 20th!

Hello Families, Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday.

I was hoping to schedule a virtual meeting via Google Meet for this week sometime, but I would like to know what time works best for the majority of families. I would like to talk to parents first and then the children can hop on afterwards and see each other <3

We all have busy days filled with online learning, so please let me know if this time works for you… I am thinking Thursday sometime in the afternoon, would 2 pm work for you?

Feel free to send any pictures from todays activities which will be shared on Friday’s post!

**There is a new section in our daily schedule for Work Time… this is something we do everyday in our classrooms. Please read that section below and let me know if you have any questions!

Suggested Schedule

While our children are at home, the most important thing we can do is to keep them in a routine. This helps comfort the child as well as provides some peace for you <3 Create a schedule that works best for you and your family. Keeping a consistent routine will be beneficial for all of your at home learners.

Good Morning!

Good Morning Parents and Students, Mrs. Abdellah and I miss you all so much. Remember our letter of the week last week? Tt!

This week our letter is Uu, what sound does the letter Uu make?

Can you make the letter U in the air?

Exercise

Today is a beautiful day outside! Ms. Stafiej is taking JoAnne and Crunch for a nice long walk. What will you do outside? Ride your bike in the backyard, play tag with your siblings, play hopscotch, etc!

Academic Activity

-Listen to the story “Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses”

-Pretend you have Magic Sunglasses. Look around…. What things do you see when you put on your Magic Sunglasses?

Write and Draw a picture of the things you see with your Magic Sunglasses!

-Send Ms. Stafiej a picture of your writing!

-And remember… look for the good in everyday 🙂 just like Pete.

Creative Time

Pete the Cat! We love Pete the Cat at school… lets draw a picture of Pete. Try your best <3 you can use crayons, markers, and even a pencil.

Lunch Time

Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables <3 Ms. Stafiej is having tuna with vegetables!

Chore Time

Clean your spot after lunch, help to wash the dishes, clean up your toys and your room.

Quiet Time

Children have time to relax and “charge” their bodies. If your child doesn’t normally nap at home, they can read stories or do a quiet activity of your choice (no screens please!)

Work Time

5 to 10 minutesPlan for Work Time:  Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home.
1 hourWork Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
15 minutesClean Up Time:  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
5 to 10 minutesRecall Time:  Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)

Daily 5 – Listen to Reading & Math Activity

Do you have any Pete the Cat stories at home to read? If so, gather those books to read to your family member. If not…. here is another great one to read!

-How many buttons are you wearing today?!

-How many buttons does your parent or sibling have on today?

-Who has more buttons today?

Movement Activity

Can you follow along with Jamie to the story of Parsnip the Cat?
