Week of January 6th

This week students worked on adjusting back to the school routine after two weeks off for break. Our DonorsChoose projects were funded during the break so students had some new exciting materials to explore upon their return.

Students exploring the table harp and our drum.

We learned about Pablo Picasso and created our masterpieces focusing on what we wanted to paint using one color. We saw Pablo Picasso paint a flower, which he turned into a fish. A lot of discussion during our paintings showed the children using a similar style.

Students enjoying playing outside on Thursday

Yesterday we learned a game called Race to Ten. The picture shows an example of how to play. Each of your students were given one of these mats to play at home. You can use goldfish crackers, m&m’s or another small item for a place marker.

The point of the game is to use the dice and cover your board up to 10. Students discuss the composition of numbers up to 10. Please let me know if you have any questions when playing this game.
