Developing Communication Skills

Small Group Time

During Small Group Time this week, your child explored making bubbles (using water, dish soap, and a straw) as well as painting using the watercolor palettes.

During the bubble making small group students were using their scientific observation skills noticing what was happening. The children counted their bubbles as they popped them. As well as used comparison terms such as more or less developing their mathematic senses.

During the watercolor explorations, students discussed color mixing and worked on procedure. Understanding they must dip their brush in the water and then in the paint to get the brightest color.

Work Time

During Work Time, students have been strengthening their communication skills. As being the first time in the classroom with children the same age, we are practicing using words such as “Can I play with you?” to enter play with other children and how to continue that positive experience throughout the day.

Picture Day Practice

Tuesday was our picture day, everyone’s looked wonderful! Retake will be on December 3rd if your child was absent.

Writing Name

We have begun signing in during the morning. This helps your child to recognize their name as well as learn the names of the letters in their name. Please practice this at home with your child! It is helpful when developing alphabetic knowledge.
