Time to start the week with a new routine!!

Hello All!

We are about to start a very different week together. By the end of the night I will have completed several days of assignments and activities to be completed at home. Please make sure you have joined the new google math class on google classroom. If you cannot get in please e-mail me.

Structure and routine are a very important part of our daily classroom. Please try your best to stay on a schedule while the students are working at home. Try something like the schedule included below. Remind the children that this is not the same as a regular school break. I will be posting multiple times daily this week to check in. Report cards will still close the March 27th.

I’m not sure what will happen with getting to the school to get supplies. Our writing project/biographies may need to wait if we can’t get to our supplies.

I will check my email often so that we may keep in contact. Contact me whenever needed. Let’s try and adhere to a 8am-4pm schedule as much as possible.

Gook luck all!!! I miss all of my little ones already!

Starting on Monday, there are four math lessons per week on google classroom. They include videos, tutorials and assignments. All the students use google classroom regularly at school, and at home. This is not any different. They will be responsible for completing the assignments and submitting them by the end of the week. 5th Grade is already posted. 4th grade should be up by tonight. All students need to go to their @dearbornschools.org e-mail and sign up for the new math google classroom. Please check all classrooms regularly so that students do not fall behind.

The State of Michigan has announced additional cases of the COVID-19 virus in our state. These new numbers include the staff member from Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School.  The Wayne County Public Health Division has determined that the staff member was not contagious while in the building; therefore, our students were not exposed to the COVID-19 virus at school.

Local health departments in Michigan work directly with those who have been identified with the virus to investigate the possibility of any further spread of the COVID-19 virus.  The Communicable Disease Unit at Wayne County determines who might have had exposure to those individuals with a positive test and reaches out to those whom they feel may have had contact.  Wayne County does not test any individuals who do not exhibit symptoms.

Part of the guidelines in determining risk factors include did the person display symptoms while in contact with others and the proximity and duration of contact with other individuals.

“We appreciate the support and expert guidance we have received from Wayne County in handling this situation,” commented Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Glenn Maleyko.

Crews are completing the cleaning of Whitmore-Bolles on Friday.  Since the building will be closed until April 13, there is no reason to believe that the school will not be ready for staff and students when they return.

Anyone who may have further questions or concerns can reach out to the Wayne County Public Health Department COVID19 information line at (734) 287-7870.

Current School Closing Situation

Hello to all families and students,

This is a very unique time in history, and I know you all have a great deal of questions. I understand the Governor’s decision to close schools will impact us all in different ways. Your children have worked so hard this year, and I intend to continue their learning, remotely, as much as possible. Until I have more specific details for you, please have your children work on Google Classroom, Zearn, Moby Max, Prodigy, Embarc, and Khan Academy. Plans are in the works to make technology available to all students. I will be working on plans for the next 3 weeks today. I will try my absolute best to keep in contact with all of you, via email, blog posts, and phone calls when necessary. If you are in contact with other parents of children in our class, please pass on the message, and promote checking my blog daily for updates. I miss the children already. Let your children know they can email me at anytime. Please take care of your health, and be safe. I am available to you as always, and will try my best to answer your questions.
