Halloween Costumes

River Oaks Halloween Information

On Thursday, October 31st, students will be allowed to bring costumes to school.  Students will not be able to wear their costumes during the morning, but may put them on in the afternoon prior to our Halloween Parade at 2:15 PM.  Weather permitting, we will walk around the neighborhood of the school during the parade and then have time for class parties.  Parents are welcome to participate in the parade around the neighborhood, but must check into the office first in order to obtain a visitor’s pass. If it rains the parade will be around the inside of the school.

Notes about costumes:

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR COSTUMES TO SCHOOL. Instead, bring your labeled costume in a bag, with your student’s name on it.  Students will be able to change into their costumes in the afternoon. Students may NOT dress up as anything that contains, bloody looking, or would be considered scary for younger students who may be frightened by these costumes. Weapons or toys that resemble weapons are NOT permitted. Most classrooms will have their parties at 2:45 – 3:15, please check your classroom teacher’s blog for more information.A note is also going home today about this notice…

Parent Survey Fall 2019

River Oaks Elementary is using this Parent Survey as a means to elicit your beliefs and opinions to help target areas for the school system to improve and areas to continue to be effective. TRUNK AND TREAT

With the success of last year’s trunk or treat, River Oaks PTA will have having another one on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. PTA needs parent volunteers to park their cars and help pass out candy. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board by the office or you can call Ms. Sandi in the office to put your name on the list. (313-827-6750). Children will be walking from car to car collecting candy. We encourage them to war costumes, but also dress warm due to this event will be outdoors. If you would like tickets you can come to the office and ask for Ms. Sandi or send back the blue flyer that was sent home the other day.

When: October 30th

Time: 5:00 – 6:00 pm

Where: River Oaks Parking lot

Price: PTA members $2.00 per child/Non PTA $3.00 per child

Siblings are welcome to come but also need tickets. This event is for kids only to receive candy, No High school siblings or older will receive candy.

PTA Trunk or Treat Help Wanted

The PTA will be sponsoring a trunk or treat on October 30, 2019. PTA is asking for donations of bagged candy to pass out to the students. We are also looking for volunteers to pass out candy from your car trunks. There will be a car signup sheet by the office. Any candy donations can be dropped off at the office.

Pumpkin Raffle

In the spirit of Halloween, River Oaks Staff have been busy decorating pumpkins to be raffled off. Students will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a pumpkin. Tickets will be .25 cents to guess.

Tickets can be purchased from their teacher starting October 23rd through October 29th. Drawing for the pumpkins will be Wednesday afternoon on October 30th.

All funds will go to help pay for classroom field trips.
