STUDENTS CONTINUITY OF LEARNING PLAN

May 18th- May21st  2020: Student Continuity of Learning Plan:

  • We are suggesting students have a schedule for the following learning tasks. Students should begin their day with a healthy breakfast and begin on their learning. 
  • Students should be taking lots of breaks. Students should be getting daily activity. Play board games, Go Noodle etc. 
  • As a part of the Student Continuity of Learning Plan that has been provided by the district; we have guidelines that ensure the continuity of learning is provided for all students. 

Language Arts/Reading: 

  • All students will be expected to read each day and write a summary of what they read for the week.  Students can read a book from their home library, read a story on raz kids or readworks. The summary should be 3-5 sentences long. This should be turned in on google classroom. 
  • ReadWorks: All students should be signed up and working on assignments that are assigned on Readworks. There will be one assignment on Readworks this week. These will be due Monday May 26th 2020
  • Poetry Week! We continue with Poetry: We will be using our Ready Common Core Book: After you finish please take a picture of the pages and upload them on google classroom. 
  • P. 134-137 and writing response  page 140 
  • Look at  http://www.shelsilverstein.com/fun/ for additional fun poem activities 

Writing: Fifth Grade End of the year speech. Even though we are not able to be together for our promotion is important to continue with the River Oaks tradition of writing a fifth grade speech. 

It must include the following: 

  • A fun and entertaining beginning 
  • Include details about your time at River Oaks
  • Fun memories about school 
  • A famous quote about the importance of education 

Below are examples of this Fifth Grade speech. One from each classroom will be selected to be shared with the staff and school.

Spelling Words: Greek roots audi-  and anti  explanation:  ‘Audi’ means listen and ‘anti’ means against or opposed.

auditorium, anti-bullying, audition, audio, antibodies, audible, antibiotic, antiseptic, antidote, antisocial, audiovisual, audiologist

Spelling activities of your choice: paragraph using all the words, write the words three times each, color words, spelling sentences etc.
