DISTANCE LEARNING

April 20th-April 24th 2020: Student Continuity of Learning Plan:

  • We are suggesting students have a schedule for the following learning tasks. Students should begin their day with a healthy breakfast and begin on their learning. 
  • Students should be taking lots of breaks. Students should be getting daily activity. Play board games, Go Noodle etc. 
  • As a part of the Student Continuity of Learning Plan that has been provided by the district; we have guidelines that ensure the continuity of learning is provided for all students. 

Language Arts/Reading: 

  • All students will be expected to read each day and write a summary of what they read for the week.  Students can read a book from their home library, read a story on raz kids or readworks. The summary should be 3-5 sentences long. This should be turned in on google classroom. 
  • ReadWorks: All students should be signed up and working on assignments that are assigned on Readworks. There will be two assignments on Readworks this week. These will be due Monday April 27th

Our essential learning is Cause and Effect within and between text: 

The readworks article assigned for the week will focus on this skill.

Fill out a T-chart, double bubble,  or Venn Diagram:  Take notes on the video and closely read the articles. Answer the prompt below. 

Prompt:

Using your notes, write an informational piece that compares and contrasts the authors’ views on littering and pollution. You can include illustrations if you wish.  Include information from both texts to write about the topic knowledgeably. Use details from both passages and video. Include headings, facts, definitions and concrete details, examples and quotations.   Remember to use linking words and phrases to connect your ideas and conclude your writing in an interesting way. Also, remember to use correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing your informational piece. 

This should be 3 to 5 paragraphs long. Please turn in this writing piece into google classroom. This will be due on April 27th 

  • All students will be expected to practice their weekly spelling words:

quadrilateral, pentameter,unicycle, triangle,polygon, quadruple, triangular, hexagon, pentagon, uniform, dodecagon, heptagon, polyhedron, quadrangle, biweekly, bilateral, kilogram, centimeter, millimeter,kilometer

Spelling activities can include: 5 times each, ABC order, rainbow words, or a practice test.  This is due by April 27th

Math:

We are moving on to Module 5 in Math. 

This week we will be working on Lesson 1 and 3.

 In addition we will be assigning optional ixl problems.

Social Studies: 

Below is the resource we will be using this week for Social Studies: 

Read pages p.109-115

Answer in a Google Document the questions below: 

1.How did the attitudes and beliefs of the Colonial American people change toward Great Britain and why? 

2.  What impact did the French and Indian war have on the beliefs and attitudes of the British and the colonists? 

3. What does Treason mean? Boycott? 

Science:
