We are learning to identify the letter, write it and learn it’s sound. We are learning how to do Daily 5. We are practicing read to self, word work, work on writing, listen to reading and read to someone.

We learned that there are three ways to read a book. 1) read the words 2) read the pictures 3) retell the story using their own words.

I will be grouping the students next week. We will work in small group instruction during our Daily 5 time.

Math   We are working on numeracy. We are learning about numbers and their value. We are learning how to do math workshop.

Social  Studies  We are building our community. We are learning our school rules and classroom routines.

Snack

Snacks should be healthy to provide the children with energy for their day. Please send a simple snack such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, and crackers. Please do not send candy as a snack. Juice and milk are not allowed in our classroom. Please do not send any kind of juice box or milk with your child for snack time. The children may have the juice or milk for lunch in the cafeteria.

Please make sure to empty the green folders each night! It is very difficult and time consuming to locate important notes when the folder is full of papers from the day before. Remember to initial the communication log each day.

Thursday 6-13-19

The end of the school year is almost upon us and to celebrate we will be having a Kindergarten and Young 5’s Celebration! Our celebration will be held at school on June 13th from 1:30 – 3:15 pm. We are looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon, but we wanted to give you some important information first.

Since all of the Kindergarten classes and Young 5’s will be outside together, each class should wear their Y5 or Kindergarten T-shirt. If your child does not have a class shirt, please wear a shirt of similar color.

We will be providing your child with a fun snack and water, but we are asking that you please send your child in with sunscreen already on and a hat/sunglasses, if needed. In order for this day to be successful, we will need your help! You may be asked to help run a game, pass out popsicles, or the monitor bounce house. So please come ready to have fun and lend a helping hand!  Please be aware that NO SIBLINGS will be allowed at this event. NO EXCEPTIONS. Remember you must sign in at the office and receive a “visitor” sticker.

Your child will not need to bring a backpack to school with them on this day. All of your child’s belongings will be sent home with them on June 12th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you so much for all of your help and support.  We look forward to a great celebration for a wonderful year!
